Nice restaurant. Casual ambience. Pretty decent food. Calamari and the salmon salad was good monus the salmon. Had a weird after taste to it. Had it cooked medium. I basically live in a sushi restaurant so i know salmon doesnt have that after taste. Shrimp tacos were great also. Worth a try

About time I wrote a review for my favorite restaurant. I come here for the white chocolate bread pudding. It brings happiness to my tummy and I probably make ridiculous face expressions while eating it. It's amazing. I have also tried many things from the pizza, soups, salads, to burgers and pastas.. everything is great. I tend to take half of my meal home so I can order the bread pudding. The location is great too! Love checking out all the shops nearby before and after.

I love Ruggles Green. All locations are great, but I like the one at City Centre the most because you can sit outside and listen to some live music in the little courtyard. Not all locations serve Brunch, which is pretty lame since its delicious! Food here is excellent, I almost always get the Spicy Chicken Tacos which are delicious! I also really enjoy getting the hempanadas and quinoa tabouli as sides. Everyone I have ever been to Ruggles with has loved the food. I just have one small complaint about the restaurant which is why I give it 4/5 stars. The drip coffee is unlimited refills but not out by the fountain drinks and iced teas. You have to ask the person taking your order for it. This is fine when there is no one in line, but when there is a line its really annoying to have to get back in line just to get a refill on your coffee. (I am NOT one of those people who will cut in line because what I am getting is 'free'. I used to be a barista and thought it was so rude when people who wanted a glass of water would cut people in line or literally interrupt them mid order because they weren't paying for their water, so I will always stand in line.) So please, Ruggles, just put the coffee pot out on the side next to the iced tea pots.

I had dessert here with friends on the patio. I liked the White Chocolate Bread pudding. We also tried the Charolette's Web dessert and the Dominos Chocolate cake. They were all tasty, but I have had better in all departments. I liked that the Charolette's web best with the tasty espresso cream filling. Be careful where you sit outside. We sat under a tree, and at about 9 pm roaches started falling from it. So we promptly left.

This place is fine. Always super crazy busy and really crowded -- good luck finding a seat. Definitely bet on a wait for a table + waiting in line for a seat. The food is slow coming out, which I guess is understandble because it's so packed...? Good news for vegetarians -- so many options for you! (And you too, gluten allergy people!) Many of the desserts are gluten-free and all of them are delicious. In fact, the dessert at Ruggles may be my favorite thing about it! Sadly, this place only gets 3 stars because if I'm spending this amout of money, I would definitely go somewhere else. I used to give it 4, but that was when I was a naive and young high school yelper; that was before I explored the Houston/New York food world. HOWEVER, if you are already stuck in line and reading this review or if you are just looking for some recommendations... here are some of my favorite dishes: Spaghetti, Veggie Sandwich Veggie Buger, Goat Cheese and Arugula Salad, and Jenny Dipper Salad (warning... super oily. And I like to substitute the dressings they have listed for others). I'd stay away from anything that's labeled "blackened" because in my experience that only means "so salty it'll leave you bloated for weeks." Seriously, they love to go crazy on the salt.

Perfect place for lunch in the sun, the Salads are great and guess what, staff is very nice too !

I will begin with how nice the manager and staff members are. I am traveling with my dog cross country alone and I can't take another fast food place ! I found it by accident. They watched my pup while I ordered my food ! Wow how nice was that ! The food is really fresh and the seating is really nice as well. On the patio overlooking a nice fountain and trees are surrounding it.

This was my second wrangle with Ruggles. Almost everything here is good. I love the selection of organic iced teas. I love the mix of desserts. I had their Dale's Pizza and that was amazing. Ham, bacon, arugula on top of a pizza, soooo good. The sweet potatoes are justifiably the best in Houston. They are just perfect. I could eat so many of them. As far as the pastas go, I find they can be hit-or-miss and often bland. It's just not a strength for Ruggles. Ruggles is a good addition to Austin, but between the multiple locations, consistency is a problem and it needs improvement.

Good quality and delicious food. Delicious olives in the drink station area The food can be a bit expensive. Good options for vegetarians. My friend had a goat cheese salad and I had a spinach salad. Both quite good. His corn chowder was excellent. Good that you can bring a dog when you sit outside. At least I think you can as people next to us had one.

The name makes you feel like even the air inside is healthy for you. It is the right blend of trendy, healthy, tasty and there is even some great hemp related desserts for the inner hippie in you. "Fresh' and "All-Natural" are descriptive words that get the most over use here. It's not a bad thing just a little pushy or to a point to justify why everything here is so expensive. The first time I was here i ordered the Roasted Chicken Sandwich. It was so juicy the bread got all soppy wet and fell apart on the bottom. I wish they pan toasted the bun so it wouldn't have been spongy. Second time I had the chicken pasta which was way better. The third and most recent I had myself a burger with the fancy sounding Kobe beef. I like the hemp brownies. Ruggles Green has top notch food service operations. Even though it seems full all the time don't let it fool you. The turn around is pretty fast (unless there are those moms with kids who just hang outside while their kids play on the turf). It is a different experience. If I want to have something different, healthy and trendy this is the place I go.

What happened Ruggles?! This was my favorite spot to go to is now becoming me thinks not. Staff was friendly & courteous as usual. As for the food it's like mediocre now. Came here for brunch with a friend. I ordered the pepperoni pizza. My pizza was so soggy & we had to use silverware to eat a thin crust pizza. We also ordered a shrimp & crab pasta. I couldn't even take a picture of it..the presentation was terrible. Looked like someone just mixed in random junk. $17 for crap I paid for. It smelt fishy & the dish was terrible. I rather eat a lean cuisine dish. The lobster base sauce just went wrong. Not a fan of quinoa linguini.. I know it's suppose to be healthier..if you think about it, its no longer healthy of you're eating with a heavy salty cream base.

this place is just OK, the waitress took so long to bring our dessert out and we told her it was our dessert and she gave it to someone else and we had to wait for a whole new one to be made. I like how it is located right in from of the green area so we could watch the kids place while the moms chat

This place can get crowded and pretty hard to find a table most of the time. That being said, service is fast and the prices are reasonable.

Food is good and this place is usually always busy. We ordered lunch then had some work to do so after sitting for awhile went to go get dessert. It took about 20 minutes to get dessert, I think they forgot about it. The ham and cheese panini is yummy and so are the sweet potato fries. I've tried the turkey burger as well and it is pretty good. When dessert finally came it was good, creme brûlée!

I happened on this wonderful Ruggles a wonderful morning, after a wonderful workout. Yes, I am using wonderful that often, because that's how this Ruggles is. I have been to the other one, and this one is awesome. The staff was super nice and patient. They were very helpful too in choosing a dish for me. I had the salmon salad which was delicious. The leaves were very fresh, the dressing was not too abundant, it was just right, and the salmon was grilled to perfection! I am definitely coming back!!! And y'all should try it if you haven't already!

Got the Hawaiian bbq pizza and the meatball linguini. Pizza tastes good but pretty soggy on the bottom. Pineapples need a bit more carmelization. Parking will always be bad...it is city Centre after all.

Since I'm on paleo, I try to figure out where I can eat without my sister rolling her eyes at me and I happily stumbled upon Ruggles Green (okay, fine... my sister was the one who suggested it). However, you have no idea what a relief it was for me that their menu literally color-coded what is gluten-free and dairy-free. I even asked what oil they fry their sweet potato fries (which is soy guys) and the staff told me they can just bake it! WHAT!?!? OKAY, OKAY... I'M SOLD! I've harassed the staff about their salmon, which is only seasoned in salt and pepper. They do grill it with some oil, but it's olive oil. I added the grilled salmon over the Ruggles House Salad (no dressing) and it was delicious. (Did I mention they cook their salmon medium???). Anyway, the mixed greens, with a whole roma tomato (quartered), carrots, and dried blueberries was a really good mix with my salmon. I enjoyed every bite of that dish. The salmon was cooked perfectly (maybe a lil' over medium, but still good enough). The baked sweet potato was amazing as well (they are known for their sweet potato fries). Overall, I had a good meal. I won't lie... the desserts were staring at me, but I was good and resisted the temptation :)

Can't complain. Sometimes hard to find a table, but what do you expect with great food at great prices? The 'Cuban' pork sandwich w/ sweet potato fries is delicious! Bread pudding to die for. Loved everything so far! UPDATE: I started the above review a while back and am just now getting around to finishing it.... I will say now that I have been tons of times, i still enjoy it every time but there is a lack of consistency on the freshness and taste. There have been times where it seems as though they hardly put seasoning and just doesn't taste as great as the week before. Still a great place to grab a bite and relax

I was a bit nervous about this place as most of the vegetarian items are not vegan and the dairy-free items are meat! I asked the girl at the counter if she could make anything vegan that's not on the menu and she turned out to be a chef that informed me of all sorts of vegan offerings. Apparently Ruggles Green is in the process of revamping it's menu. This location (and perhaps the other) offers vegan Daiya cheese for the pizza but they only had cheddar (usually have mozz) when I visited so I skipped the pizza. I decided on getting tofu tacos instead of fish tacos (tofu isn't listed as an option on the menu), and got it without one of the sauces w/ milk in it. Since I was skipping a sauce, the lady told me I could have sliced avocado on the tacos for no additional charge - excellent! I can't say the tacos were the most fantastic I've ever had in my life (the tofu was slightly bland and came in one large chunk, vs smaller pan-fried chunks), but they were colorful, tasty, and I really appreciated the lady going out of her way to make me happy. I dined with a meat-eating friend that has very little experience with vegetarian food and he got the veggie burger and fries and was blown away. I tried a piece of his veggie burger (a homemade nut/bean burger) and it was great. Unfortunately (for me, at least!), he got cheese on it so I couldn't really dive into it! I think my favorite part of the restaurant is the self-serve free pickle and garlic station! I got a small cup of each and could have easily sat there eating pickled garlic all day.

The white chocolate bread pudding is what I come here for and it never disappoints. I've tried the tres leches and the pink cake as well and while they are also good, I still like the bread pudding the best. Only downside is that service is a little slow. I've gone here before where it was packed and where it was pretty much empty and never noticed a difference in service time.

The food is not that unique but the environment is great to have friends over. It's a healthy restaurant if you want something light but I still think there is nothing special.

I had a gluten free kobe beef burger and it was delicious!! Most of the times gluten free food can be dry and bland, but this was amazing. From the beef to the bun, i devoured the whole thing.

Ruggles Green was the highlight of our weekend trip to Houston. The food looked as good as it tasted and it was in a great little spot right in citycentre where you could eat outside and watch a million little kids running around on some astroturf. They are incredible with food allergies so if you or someone you know has a gluten allergy this place should definitely be on the list. The gluten free pizza crust is some of the best we ever had, the quinoa salad makes for a great side dish and the burger was cooked perfectly. Too bad we only discovered this place on the last day of our trip...

I got the dipping salad with poppy seed dressing and balsamic dressing, and it was perfect! Perfectly roasted tomatoes, lightly grilled asparagus, sweet sauteed onions, and marinated mushrooms packed with flavor, all resting next to a very fresh bed of greens. The way the veggies were cooked brought out their natural flavors and the dipping sauces were a nice touch. Not overpowering at all, just a little extra kick. I also tried a couple of their pizzas. One was a white pizza with capers and mozzerella (AWESOME!). The other had a red sauce with bacon. It was also very tasty, but the white pizza was my favorite. The crusts on both were delicious! I love it when a restaurant gets it. All I want when I go out to eat is healthy options and food made with quality ingredients that aren't masked by loads of butter, sauces, sugar, or salt. Ruggles gets it.

A Ruggles close enough for lunch at work. Yea! I enjoyed a special here the last time I ate. Black bean tacos. I think they added it to the regular menu. They're very good. What makes this place special is the pleasant outdoor seating. The "original" location has outdoor seating, but it isn't relaxing or picturesque like it is here. In fact, the patio seating is so popular that I've never been able to snag a table there. If you're not a meat eater, I highly recommend the Texas Caesar salad with the grilled tofu. It's a great light lunch... or dinner if you're planning to indulge in dessert... which I ALWAYS do! On tip, don't come here with a large group if you insist on all eating at the same table. The place is arranged with smaller tables, but a group larger than 4 would have a hard time getting a spot.

I've been coming here since the 1st week the place was opened (sorry for the late yelp review, I'm new to this) This place is busy! When it gets crowded, it really gets crowded. Waiters and waitresses are running around and the atmosphere is just alive. The outside seating is great and there is a bar out there as well. As far as the selection of food, if you get bored, then I'm not sure what to tell you, because these guys are very creative. My all time favorite is the bison burger and for dessert, I'll either get the bread pudding or the carrot cake. There are so many more dessert option but those are my top 2. And yes, I've tried them all lol. If you are looking for variety, amazing flavor, great atmosphere and a nice staff, then come to Ruggles Green here in City centre.

This used to be 5 stars... Now food is very inconsistent and atmosphere is geared for employees. If it is not full with crying babies all you hear is blaring loud music. Hate it had gone down because some of the staff here are really great!

1st time. Birthday. Heard good reviews. Sat ordered in Patio. Grinded MOLDED pepper on food. Took plate 2 bartender he said "I can't leave register, take plate inside, ask to change." Waiter came back w/ another plate said, sorry about that & walked off.

Never coming back here. The service is terrible. We were a group of friends with three separate checks/orders, they brought the food on each ticket out separately. A group of us had to watch the others eat while waiting for our food. The food was also terrible, at least mine was. I got the quinoa pasta with turkey meatballs, the meatballs tasted awful and to top it all this place is way too expensive for what they offer.

  • Saadiya R.

It's a pretty casual place. You order at the cashier and pay right then and seat yourself. Outside seating is pleasant. Food is decent but sometimes this place smells a bit funky which I do not appreciate. They have delicious dessert too including the white chocolate bread pudding. If you're at city centre already, I'd definitely give this place a try.

  • Jessica D.

I love this location in the middle of CityCentre. I especially love the hummus and grilled chicken sandwich (I know it sounds boring but its good). The food is consistent and if you put your order device on the marked place on your table, they bring your plate right to you without it even going off.

  • Charles S.

This place is great when you need to get a group with diverse tastes together for a meal. The burgers are large and will definitely satisfy the meat eaters. The menu also includes pizza and pasta as well as hummus and quinoa wraps. We came here with family and my nephew can't eat gluten, so he was really happy with all the gluten-free options and his vegetarian mother was thrilled as well! The beer and wine options are ample. Toss in some of their heavenly desserts and you've got quite an experience!

I keep coming back. They have an interesting menu and good food. Whether I have a salad, a pizza, or a burger, I pretty much have a nice experience and good food. That's why we dine out, right? The menu is organic ingredients. I recommend their pizzas and salads. Have not tried the pasta yet. Don't be put off by the line up at the counter and order process. That just gives you a moment to check out the seductive dessert counter. Order, pay, find a table, wait for food to come out. Very good food presentation, food arrives steaming, and the staff are worthy of suitable tipping when you order. I have been there during lunch rush, later evening, and early afternoon. I see the same people working there so they must be doing as good by their people as they are their customers.

I am not a HUGE fan of Ruggles Green. I think it is good but not amazing or anything special. The atmosphere is what makes it unique and I appreciate that they use fresh and all natural ingredients. I have eaten here on two occasions and wasn't blown away by the food enough to really want to come back, although I am sure I will because it is near me and I am a regular at City Centre. A few of my friends really like it. I like good food, but somehow I can't get down with a salad for over $12. I have had the Ruggles Green house salad with chicken and it was just ok. I could make the same thing at home. I have also had the Roasted Chicken Sandwich. It was overly sauced and it seemed like they were trying to hide something with all those flavors going on and didn't really make sense. It was just too much. It fell apart as I took the first bite. It would have been better with out all the marinara sauce.I did enjoy the sweet potato fries but those are becoming pretty standard now. Over all I will most likely be back, but will stay away from the salads and sandwiches. I did notice some pizzas that looked tasty. So I might try one of those.

I think it deserves 3.5 stars. Atmosphere: It's a lively place depending on what day you go. Normally, I choose to sit outside and sometimes it's hard to find a place to sit when it's busy. Ruggles has a certain smell to it when you walk in. I can't exactly pinpoint what it smells like, but it doesn't smell good to me! Food: I usually always get fish tacos, they're pretty good and the portion is big so I normally share with somebody. They're known for their white chocolate bread pudding, but some would say that the Ruggles in Rice Village is better. It's good at City Center, too! Their burgers, pizzas, and pastas are nothing to rave about. Their creme brûlée wasn't very good when I had it. It tasted too soft and runny almost. Service: Mediocre. That's all I have to say about that.

I'm from out of town and when I saw this place it screamed at me with intrigue. The ambience is great and its surroundings are very upbeat. The place is clean and prices are well within range of what you'd expect to get. I got a burger and they nailed it spot on. The only bit that I'd have to criticize is the cashiering staff. In my opinion they seemed a bit disinterested and snobby, but the burger was worth it.

  • Jihad S.

I love this place. It is a combination of the food and the location. Being in Houston often for business I find it hard to eat someplace that offers me healthy and responsible foods that aren't too heavy. I go every time I am in town and love the Kobe Beef Burger, Bison burger, Fish tacos, the Shrimp Tacos, The Sweet Potato Fries, The Taboulie (not really tabouli but delicious), the bread pudding. I can't wait to continue to try the rest of the menu!

I've always questioned restaurants that have a spot for a "tip" before I even get my food. On this, my one and only visit--I got my food and not my dessert. We sat outside on a sunny day. My spicy fish tacos were good and plenty. I could have gone for half of my order so after I was done, I anticipated my carrot cake to come out at any minute along with my wife's creme brulee. Then I waited and waited. I'm sure I looked like a little kid looking for help, but no matter what facial expression I gave, I didn't get one look from the staff. I looked pathetic... So I ventured inside to figure out what was going on. Twenty minutes later we ate our creme brulee (which was excellent) and took the carrot cake home (it was ok). No apologies. There's much "potential." If there's a line for a tip before the order comes out, better not make the customer wait. I should have tipped myself.

I love this place and am never disappointed! The atmosphere is great and the place is usually packed. Whether you get just a pepperoni pizza, hi-protein hempanadas or the Ruggle's Green goat cheese salad, you really can't go wrong. Any time I get a chance to eat here, I take it!

  • Selina V.

I'm a big fan of being able to eat outside. I work in a stuffy office all week so I like to get out and get my dose of sunshine when I can. Ruggles Green has an amazing outdoor area that feeds right into the courtyard at City Centre. No need to worry about hearing your name called because they locate you with a table marker. The food is unique. I love that they are a certified Green restaurant and they have gluten-free options. The veggie tacos and smoke chicken sandwich are my favorite items. So glad spring is here so I can go back to eating outside!

I have been to this location several times and most of the time it is very busy! Despite that, our food always came out good and it is conveniently located next to several other things (studio movie grill, red mango, yardhouse etc). I have tried the salad with grilled salmon, egg sandwich, turkey meatball panini, the grilled veggie panini, vegetarian burger, and the chicken pasta. All so very good! My bf had tried several things that i havent really tried such as he buffalo burger and spicy fish tacos. You get to tell them how you want the buffalo burger cooked and my bf likes it medium rare and they delivered just that. During the weekend it gets terribly busy so if you're in a rush I suggest not coming to this location.

  • Eva D.

Yeah, it's pricey but so what? I'm not eating here everyday. I come here maybe once a month. I ordered the curry chicken salad and it is HUGE! Two chicken fillet in a curry sauce. The salad is tossed with the right amount of dressing and the dried fruit in it gives it a nice touch. Most places mess up chicken easily and it just tastes dry. The chicken on the salad was juicy and cooked so well. Come sit on the patio and watch kids kick balls into other kid's faces!

  • David H.

This place is a dissapointment... I got the Kobe Burger here, and it was borderline disgusting. I asked for it medium rare, and it came to the table well done, which is a huge no-no for me. Also didn't read the menu (my own fault) but it comes with thousand island dressing on the burger (a huge dollop that blows out any flavor the kobe would have). Will never order this again! The Melon iced tea also sucked, tasted like bubbulicious bubble gum... The fiance's salad though was stellar. Made me jealous that I didn't order a salad as opposed to the burger, but it was the star of the meal. The chicken was grilled perfectly, juicy, tender, and slightly smokey. The Honey mustard was superb, the asparagus cooked perfectly, and the mushrooms and carmalized onions delicious. A deconstructed salad if you would. Service is fascinating here, as you just stick your little order number into the slot on the table and they will bring you your order.

Not bad. We have family in Spring Branch, so this is a convenient location with a varied menu for most palates. Pros + Good food + Green mission (local organic ingredients, compost, recycle, etc.) Cons - Parking at City Centre is a nightmare - LOUD - Pricey (we ordered 3 salads, and it set us back over $40)

    (3)
  • Alfred S.

Ehh it was okay. Smelled kinda funny, I ordered the Cuban panini and was supposed to come on sourdough, ended up coming with grain bread.. Taste was great though. Sweet potato fries were kinda soggy, not too crispy. Think ill stick to our original in First Colony!

  • Karen N.

I witnessed a few employees bringing in MinuteMaid Orange juice. Not sure if this fits into their claim of serving organic or higher quality. The customer service was terrible. The cashier had an nasty attitude like he did not want to be there. It was not busy so I'm not sure why some tables were dirty. I couldn't find an open and clean table to sit at so I had to go grab some napkins to wipe off the dirtiness. A few of the tables wobble which the employees should probably pay attention to. The food was good but I would rather buy the ingredients and make the food at home. Definitely not worth the price. Didn't taste the quality in the food as I expected but I'm glad to try it out.

I heard about this place for their awesome veggie burger so that was exactly what I got my first visit just last week. It was very much amazing and I would definitely go back to get it again! My friend and I also shared a dessert - "surprise me" we told the guy taking our order and so he did. I don't remember exactly what it was that he ended up getting us, but it was a dual layered pie that came with a scoop with real vanilla ice cream and that awesome bit of chocolate that began drooping after five minutes in the outdoors. I thought the dessert was good, though not the best I've ever had (I did love how the ice cream seemed to have bits of vanilla bean in it though). I still haven't tried their famous bread pudding - perhaps next time? There is a note: I wasn't sure how they work but apparently, you wait in line at the front where you order. Then they give you these long and flat plastic "cards" for each person where you take with you to your table of choice and you stick in this "docking station" which alerts the kitchen where you're sitting. I thought that was a genius idea. Service was prompt and they were very nice - as long as you go up to the counter. I initially just stood there looking around before I headed to the counter, but all was good. Also, you'd think that they have many tables but when it gets busy, they really don't - especially the outdoor tables. Overall, though, I'm not writing it off - I still have too many items I need to try to settle on an opinion and the location is nice, though it is a bit pricey. Also - those hemp brownies!

The positive thing is that food is great! But the parking space is not easy to park because it is in the crowded plaza with other restaurants and retails. Parking is the big issue.

  • Annette A.

Everything that I've had here to eat has been awesome...my only complaint, why can't you just hire some waitresses?? The counter ordering concept works out fine, when you allow enough room for waiting customers! It gets super cramped in here during busy times with the line awkwardly stretching into the dining area. You already have people bringing food to the tables, why not just scrap the counter and turn them into waiters/waitresses. Otherwise, the food is great and the outdoor seating is lovely on a nice day. And let's face it, you really do feel better about yourself eating at a place with a name like Ruggles Green :)

Was taken here for a birthday party (mine). It's interesting. First off it's order at the counter and seat yourself. No wait service in this place. So for a large group it was good for billing purposes, but not so much when you were sitting in the middle of a booth and wanted another drink. (Can everyone slide out so I can go get a drink or order food) :( The staff didn't even come by to collect plates that were finished until we stacked them all up and sat them at the end of the table. The food was actually really good. This is the one saving grace for me. I had the hummus to start and the veggie burger. Both were very good when they finally got the right order (wrong the first time - don't give a veggie girl a turkey burger - boooo) But the sweet potato fries were not fresh - made ahead and luke warm & soft :( And I love my sweet potato fries!! So I'm really not sure if I'd go back. But maybe with less people. You just can't get it wrong in Houston when there are sooooo many good places to go!!

I'm never disappointed with any visit to any Ruggles. This was my first visit to this location. I had the Atlantic Salmon salad. I always order dressing on the side because most restaurant soak their salads with dressing and I don't like that. Perhaps that's a reason why my salad didnt come out soggy, too savory, or wilted. I love the mango ranch with the chipotle salmon. My salmon did come out a bit spicy (do note I'm a big spicy eater), but the mango ranch offsets it. My hubby had the Cuban pork sourdough panini. Great sandwich, although he did think that it tasted even better dipped in my mango ranch dressing. The panini was suppose to have a mango chipotle dressing already, but he said he didn't taste any. I really wanted dessert, because who goes to Ruggles and not get a dessert, but I was way too full. I didn't even finish my salmon! Yes I will be back. I love the patio area. The weather was absolutely beautiful today especially after the "winter storm" we just had yesterday. I highly recommend this place for lunches or late-night desserts (before 10pm) with good company.

I love this location. Okay, I'm just obsessed with City Centre. They have plenty of outdoor seating. If you ever go in the afternoons or weekends, City Centre is crawling with kids. If you're anti-kid, don't sit outside by the 'green.' The food for the most part is mediocre. I've had things that I really liked, and I've had some things that were just okay. Some things I really liked: honey fried goat cheese salad & carrot cake. The line is always long, but it moves fast. My food usually arrives seconds after I sit down. Prices are too steep for my poor college student budget, but it's something I can spare every once in a while.

Silly me, popped in here as I thought it was Ruggles Grill. It was fairly quiet and plenty of seats outside, and a pretty sunset on its way. Having been blessed by the Parking God, found a space without having to valet. Had tried other restaurants close by, ho hum, saw the word Ruggles and jumped on it. Love organic but not these dishes, except for the brownie. Forget the food, really, not that tasty, the pork panini, tabouli, shrimp tacos, blah, blah, blah, go straight for the chocolate brownie and the Shiner Boch, can't lose on that winning combination. Wait staff served the wrong tacos and then came back and asked for more $, had ordered the shrimp tacos, not the chicken, their mistake but I paid the $. Trendy spot to watch wee ones taking their first steps go for better food at less trendy spots!

We recently enjoyed an impromptu lunch here, and were very pleased overall. Though the focus is on "green" (good luck defining that) and organic, the menu variety here should please anyone. My better half enjoyed a nice salad with grilled goat cheese, a nice choice on a warm Houston day. I tried the spicy chicken tacos, and they were the best I've had. The portion was very generous as well -- I'd argue possibly a little TOO generous. Would be a good item to split along with some fruit or veggies as a side. Excellent teas as well. Lots of outdoor seating for a leisurely lunch or dinner. We would definitely come back.

Located in the heart of City Centre, I went here for the first time and I must say that it was quite delicious. First of all, who says that organic= less taste. Most of the dishes are many made with organic ingredients and/or high quality meats, which enhances the flavors and textures of the food. This makes for better quality and better tasting dishes. The prices are a little bit higher than other similar cafe/restuarants but you defiantly get what you are paying for. Also, the portion sizes are huge! My girlfriend and I ordered and split the Organic Egg Sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. This was plenty for both of us and I have a big appetite. This open-faced sandwich with organic eggs, natural ham, cheddar and swiss cheese grilled on sourdough bread is very savory. The eggs are served over-easy and the runny yolk really add depthness of flavor, especially in combination the all gooey cheese. When you get both get all of the ingredients into one bite, you really can taste the freshness of the quality ingredients. Ruggles Green may have one of the best tasting bread puddings that I have ever had. The Ruggles Famous White Chocolate Bread Pudding definitely lives up to all the hype. The pudding is creamy and rich and it almost oozes out from under the bread. My favorite part may be the combination of chocolate syrup and raspberry sauce. The sweetness of the raspberry sauce just takes this dish to another level and it perfectly compliments the dark richness of the chocolate sauce.

The Best Sweet Potato Fries in the world is not a self proclamation. They really ARE the best! Awesome atmosphere, especially in the evening on the patio. Of course sometimes you have to hunt down an available table. But overall awesome + healthy options!

While visiting Texas, my family told me that coming to Ruggles Green was a must - and I wasn't disappointed. We got there early enough to beat the lunchtime rush, but be warned that the lines can get ridiculously long. That being said, the restaurant is spacious, and lit with so much natural sunlight. A range of dishes were ordered from their tacos to salads, to mac and cheese and an open faced egg sandwich. The portions were huge, and totally worth the money! Not only that but the food was incredibly fresh, and everything tasted delicious. I definitely recommend the tomato soup with puff pasty (only comes with the large size), and the egg sandwich can be done with egg whites for an extra two dollars. My only complaint was that the desserts (although delicious) were way too sweet and heavy. We shared two desserts between four people, and that was perfectly fine! They're famous for pink velvet, but definitely try the bread pudding!

I've been here many times now and found the food to be consistently good. Yes, it's a little pricey for what it is but not so much that I wouldn't come back (obviously). I regularly order the spicy fish tacos or the quinoa spaghetti and all natural turkey meatballs. Somehow, I haven't tried the quinoa mac and cheese yet, but it's definitely on my list! The big standout for me is the white chocolate bread pudding. I can be totally fully and STILL devour a good amount of that bread pudding because it is OH SO GOOD. I might hate myself a little afterwards for overeating but apparently I haven't learned my lesson yet! I reluctantly ventured from the usual dessert and tried the charlotte's web once. Turned out to be pretty darn good too! I'm not a big fries person but the sweet potato fries seem to be a pretty big hit with my friends! This location happens to fall between work and home, so it's fairly convenient. I like that I can usually find a parking spot in the garage without any problems and not have to worry about dressing up to eat here.

I have eaten at the Ruggles chain 3 times now. I have eaten at this specific location the 1st and 3rd time. Of the 2 locations this is definitely the worst. This most recent time I ordered the Blackened Shrimp Salad (my last salad from their other locations was AMAZING!). Sadly this was no where close to as good. The shrimp was dry and lacked flavor. The salad was fresh, but the star of the salad was supposed to be the shrimp and it did not meet my expectations. People around me were ordering desserts and they looked amazing! I will no next time at this location to just skip dinner and go straight to the sweets.

Love this location! Perfect for a casual weekend dinner. I love the freshness of Ruggles Green's food. My husband and I have tried a few dishes, and both always end up with the fish tacos. You only get 2, but they pile a LOT of delicious on those 2 tacos. The queso fresco and micro greens are lovely touches. Also, the creme brulee is a MUST for dessert. One of the top 10 greatest things I've ever eaten.

The food here is definitely good but I still find it a little pricey for counter-service but I do like the atmosphere with all the windows overlooking City Center and the fun/quirky paintings on the walls - my favorite is the parrot with a pirate on its shoulder, so clever! Here are my food reviews: -The Atlantic Salmon salad is very fresh, I actually like the salad part of this dish more than the salmon part. -The fish tacos were awesome and a good portion (4 tacos!) and they can get pretty spicy! -The mac and cheese is awesome but $10 and if you add chicken it's coming close to $15. -The hemp brownie was just okay and is a full dessert, I expected a little brownie wrapped in plastic. -The iced tea selection all SOUND really delicious but none of them were memorable and I'm a huge sucker for delicious tea.

A classy sit or grab-n-go type of place. The dishes were sophisticated yet your standard dishes. They give you a number and the server brings out your food. I got the tilapia tacos and they were good! Sister got the portabella sandwich that wasn't too great. Avg prices.

If 1/2 stars were possible, I would rate Ruggles Green 2-1/2. I have dined here several times for lunch and my last visit left much to be desired. The cashiers never seem to know how to work the registers. Don't seem very well trained. The system they use to locate your table and serve your food is good in concept, but doesn't seem to work. Usually the food runners roam around until they find you. The Texas Organic goat cheese salad is great. I always add shrimp, (which nearly doubles the price of the salad). My last time there, the shrimp were so overcooked and dry that they were inedible. One word of warning. If someone in your party takes a seat before ordering, the employees take it upon themselve to go ask them to get up. Seems their biggest focus is getting people out the door as soon as possible. All in all, decent food, but not consistent. Prices and service do not go hand in hand. Just so so.

Ruggles Green is the offspring of Ruggles chain but the major difference is its emphasis on organic ingredients. With that said, the prices are a bit more, as is the case with anything organic next to it. This particular location is much bigger in size than the location on Richmond and the menu is quite different. There is plenty of outdoor seating. On this particular visit I had the kobe beef hamburger with sweet potato fries and their award winning white chocolate bread pudding. The kobe burger was cooked to perfection. It came out medium just liked I ordered it so I give them big ups for that. However, the burger was lacking seasoning. The sweet potato fries were sweet and yummy. Whether there they came straight from the potato or freezer, that I do not know. The award winning white chocolate bread pudding was good but sort of wet for my taste. I prefer my bread pudding not as soggy. The presentation was stellar as always and I appreciate that they serve their desserts to order.

My roommate and I, on a house hunting trip from a tiny town in Oklahoma, ate at Ruggles on our first night in Houston. And it was like taking a deep breath after holding it underwater a couple seconds too long! Fresh, beautiful but generous portions, with a great atmosphere. We continue to bring out-of-towners to Ruggles Green time after time. Thanks RG!

After much hype, I decided to meet my gluten-free friend here for lunch. On a cold, Houston day, there were few seating options inside. I noticed the sign that encourages getting seating after you stand in line to order then take your table number. Once you pay, you take your table number and hope for an available spot to insert the electronic plastic number into the reader and your food is brought to you. I had the shrimp tacos, which were plentiful in tiny shrimp, but the chopped greens and dressing seemed to overwhelm the taco dish and my corn tortillas were soggy and wouldnt hold up. My friend was happy with her gluten-free quinoa mac and cheese, fries, gluten-free margarita pizza, and hemp brownie. The bill was $44. a little pricey. Not sure I'll return.

This is one of my new favorites in CityCentre. Ruggles Green is one of Houston's first certified green restaurants-they recycle everything! I prefer it to Ruggles Café and Bakery in Rice Village, though not for dessert (I'll get to that in a second). You can taste the quality in the local produce and meat they use. Everything on your plate is organic, preservative free, and hormone free. You'll know exactly what is in your meal, and it will be healthy and delicious. I honestly have not tried a variety of dishes here, I usually just rotate between two because I love them so much. The buffalo burger really hits the spot if you're craving a burger without all the fat and grease. When I want more leafy greens, I order the Atlantic salmon salad, which is served with a very generous slab of fresh salmon and a refreshing mango ranch dressing. The desserts here have never really looked that appealing. They are seran-wrapped behind the front counter. Most of the popular desserts from Ruggles Café and Bakery can be found here for several dollars more. I have tried the much-loved pink velvet cake, and it's not as good as the red velvet from Ruggles Café and Bakery, mostly due to the consistency and taste of the cream cheese frosting. It probably will be a good option if you aren't looking for a very rich dessert. I like how they have a sink stationed right outside of the restroom, with a Dyson Airblade to dry your hands.

The gluten free pizza is really good! Really anything here is good. They have a nice selection of salads and entrees. This is a great place to go with friends that are on different diets or have different allergies. It does get packed, so I suggest going on off times, or early, so that you can find a place to sit.

I came here for lunch with a friend because we came to City Centre and needed to stop by somewhere for food. The food here is hardly edible because it's so bad. The prices are way too high for the dry food. The atmosphere is very loud, rambunctious, and unappealing. Their selling point is that this place is healthy but what they don't tell you is that the food is NOT tasty. The little flavor that the food has does not go well together at all and leaves the customer dissatisfied. The service was terrible; we were given our food and that's it. We were never helped again. We were never told where anything was so I actually stumbled into the kitchen because everything was so squished, compact and messy. I eventually found where the drinks, forks and napkins were but did not have a nice experience. Don't go here!! The food, atmosphere and service aren't good at all.

Just left Ruggles; I've always been a fan of their food. Used to eat at the one in Saks all the time and the one in the montrose area....and ruggles bakery in rice village (used to work in the medical center it was a weekly spot). This is in alignment with the rest, good, fresh, food! I got a free dessert today just by signing up for an app that tracks money spent for rewards. The domino cake was divine, served with ice cream. A great cafe to stop in for a quick, simple, but tasty bite.

I came here with my co-workers for lunch. I ordered the goat cheese and arugula salad with chicken and got a side of sweet potato fries. The salad was very good. All of the ingredients were fresh and the dressing (on the creamy, sweet and slightly tangy side) went really well with the salad. The chicken, honestly, didn't look very appetizing as it didn't get a lot of grill marks on it, but it tasted great. The honey battered goat cheese was one of the best parts of the dish. The crust was crunchy and slightly sweet, and the cheese on the inside was really creamy and smooth. The fries were really crispy and cooked perfectly. It's best to get here early. My colleagues and I got here at 1130. Soon after we ordered there was a line out the door!

I would come here again with friends who are not into meat. This place have fresh local veggies and the atmosphere is really nice. I had the lamb burger with mozzarella cheese. I like my burger but I couldn't finish it. I don't care for their fries, very soggy and soft. The Spinach dip was awesome. You have to come try it and experience this area or side of town. Very neat place if you have a family to take out.

As a reward for winning a reading contest, I took a group of 14 students to Ruggles for a part of our prize field trip on June 1st. The students and I had such a wonderful experience. The manager, Alex Cormier, worked with me prior to the trip to set everything up. He was wonderful! He discounted our lunch and even through in a few surprise desserts. This dining experience was an opportunity that many of these students have never had a chance to have. There was fantastic food, atmosphere, and service! All of the orders were correct and came out together. I can't thank Brandon and his staff enough. Without a doubt, he helped to create lasting memories for these kiddos (and me)! Ruggles is one of my favorites!

I have only gone for lunch during the week before the 12pm lunch rush, so it's a pretty calm and easy-going atmosphere when I get there. I can't imagine what it would be like on the weekends... Nothing to complain about service wise- the waiters are really upbeat and friendly and the bussers (is that a word?) come by often. The only thing I didn't like was my first trip only one cashier was taking orders while 3 or 4 literally stood their talking, looking out at the line. There WERE 2 cashiers, then the 2nd just walked off. The line was probably 6 or 7 people long, so why were they just standing around?! About 2 or 3 people later one decided to mosey on over and take orders, but it was annoying. Anyway, food is good. I really like their vast (I say vast, it is vast in comparison to majority of restaurants in the area) selection of healthy alternatives. But they still have giant slices of cake when you're in the mood...yum. P.S. Get a tiny cup of their pickles. I may of had 3 before my plate even arrived.

I always eat here cause I get a 10% discount for working in CCH. Buffalo burger // egg sandwich // Texas Cesar Salad w chicken // Pepperoni Pizza are just a few of my favorites here! shhhh, don't tell my clients! It's kinda tough to find a seat and the line can go out the door on a hot summer day, so call in your order, or get there early. Definitely helps if you already know what you want as their selection can be pretty large.

So Im revising my review. I came here today for lunch and had the shrimp and crab pasta and unfortunately it was pretty bland and either the crab were little tiny flakes or they forgot to add the crab. It came w four pieces of shrimp. Not something I care to order again. I recommend the goat cheese salad and pizzas and of course the desserts. I love the view of this location but it seems to constantly be busy and of course the parking situation can become tedious because it shares so many other restaurants, bars, shops and theatre...but has wonderful desserts and food and all with healthy ingredients.

"OK" food and slow service. Noisy seating inside. Unorganized, messy, and careless. Sometimes gross bathrooms and generally clutter everywhere (around the soda fountain, the lazy susan condiment trays, etc). Overall a "Meh" for me, but when I think of it's fringe use-cases it earns an extra star. It checks the boxes for gluten-free, vegetarian, paleo, etc. There are better restaurants for each, but I guess Ruggles is decent because you can have it all here. Like so many ventures in life though, why do much with mediocraty when focus brings excellence. The organic thing is cool though, but if they were more thoughtful they'd have ketchup without HFCS and natural fountain drinks. Order at the counter and get a buzzer, standard counter-service place. A few teas to choose from, water and a fountain machine. EDIT: as Sam pointed out, they also had beer, wine, and bottled fizzy fun. The success of this chain bewilders me. Maybe if a spouse and I had conflicting dietary restrictions this place would make more sense. The food isn't exactly "wow" food; there's better food throughout this fine city.

We always eat here when visiting with family at Citycenter. Food is fresh and tastes good, but it is always crowded and they sometimes mess up on orders or take too long to bring an order. But they try and get it fixed fast. Their desserts are so good! Love all the different herbal iced teas they offer as well.

The food here us pretty lean and healty if you're looking for something less fattening. I had the Kobe Burger here amd its pretty tastey. Also, its really nice to sit outside and enjoy the day and nights. Ive been one time when there was live entertainment, and it really makes the evening worth while if you're looking into something for date night.

I USED to like the Texas Goat Cheese Salad, until I found a chewed up piece of a garbage bag mixed in with my lettuce. Although the manager refunded the cost of the salad, she insisted that it must have been a piece of the to-go bag. The to-go bag was perfectly intact and made of a clearly lighter plastic. This was a GARBAGE BAG. Disgusting.

This place never disappoints - there is run around room for the kid and a menu that is great. Believe it or not the pizza is one of the best in Houston if you like NY Style ( kids love it also) and the fish tacos are awesome - huge serving but taste very fresh and light. If you have kids and the weather is nice on the weekend - bring a ball to kick around and sit back to live free entertainment while eating. Get their early as the outside seats go fast when the weather is nice!!

YUM! good food, fresh & healthy, lots of options if you are a dill pickle fan - beware - their homemade pickles are sweet. yuck! also, DO NOT ORDER THE FRUIT AS A SIDE. for an additional 50 cents you get the SMALLEST bowl of lame fruit. they are all about their sauce for the fruit... but what fruit needs sauce. it's already sweet.

Ruggles Green is ruined for me. Why, you ask? Well, I have 4 words for you: White Chocolate Bread Pudding. When I go here, I can't have anything else. Nothing. See those tempting shrimp tacos on the menu? Don't do it. You're gonna regret it when you get full and can only have a few bites of the *real* good stuff. WCBP is the pinnacle of dessert perfection. I have turned dessert non-believers back to the light side of the force with this creation. When you walk in, you'll see WCBP sitting humbly in the dessert case, all shy and letting the other desserts steal the spotlight. DON'T LET THEM! Order it and never look back. They bake the pudding just enough so that it gets all crunchy on top and then they proceed with their makeover. A fancy-looking chocolate sheet gets added, along with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It also comes with this strawberry sauce that I can't fully decide if I like or not but since it comes on the side, it's a non-issue. WCBP is everything you could ever want in a dessert. Crunchy, yet gooey. Warm, yet cold. Chocolaty, yet fruity. If I were to rate Ruggles Green on WCBP alone, it'd have 8 stars. Unfortunately, their menu hasn't always been consistent for me and I would only go there if I'm on a health kick. If the words quinoa and micro-greens just make you feel really giddy inside, then by all means, go there and eat to your heart's desire. Otherwise, just do dessert.

Great food! Wow! My wife had the pepperoni pizza and I had the mahi mahi fish tacos. Both were just fantastic! When I got my beer, it was a little warm so they gave me a chilled glass, and two free drinks after that! Great customer service from the girl at the register and her manager! She wished my wife a happy birthday! We will be back for sure :)

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with any of their items on their menu. Everything just tastes really good! As someone who watches what they eat and likes eating healthy food, Ruggles is the place to go! ALWAYS order the bread pudding....you won't ever be disappointed. This is definitely the best bread pudding I have ever had, really. You can tell them to bring it out towards the end of your meal. You want to eat it hot so you can eat it at its best!

I love Ruggles! It's funny because in my last review I said I always get the grilled chicken sandwich- which I still adore... but I'm trying to be adventurous, okay? I don't think I've ordered that since I wrote the review... ha. However, I've explored the menu more and more each time and I think that's better than sticking to one dish. This place is one of my go-to restaurants because the food is always delicious and rich and the entire concept of eating there is very well thought-out. I love their sweet potato fries, I still love their chicken sandwich, their soups are great, and the desserts are outstanding. The only thing I will call them out on is SUUUUUUPER duper overcooked quinoa mac and cheese the last time I ate. Hopefully it was a one-time issue. The dish tasted fantastic but the pasta itself was incredibly overcooked. If you've ever cooked gluten-free pasta at home (either brown rice, corn & white rice, or quinoa) you'll know that it usually takes less time to get it al dente. Another point I'd like to make is that I despise tres leches (please, nobody kill me in my sleep) but the tres leches cake at Ruggles was great. A friend ordered the dessert and I had a few bites. My favorite dessert there so far is the white chocolate bread pudding.. yum.

The vegan burger is very good. The veggie tacos are VERY spicy (you've been warned). The vegan quinoa mac is NO BUENO. I can make better vegan mac on a whim, no recipe. I don't think anyone in the kitchen has actually tasted it. There's just no way... Tip: Don't come during the busiest meal hours -- it's crazy packed.

I wish I could hire Ruggles Green to be my personal chef! I always leave the restaurant feeling very satisfied and nourished. I am not a vegetarian, but I could eat the vegetable lettuce wraps every day and the vegetable pizza is fantastic. One caveat: parking at City Centre is the worst (Jean-Ralphio style!), just truly awful, and the last time I was sitting outside, there was a weird smell on the patio....the Heights location is my favorite!

Minestrone soup without pasta or beans. No taste. Manager even said it was supposed to have pasta. Turkey meatball panini on slabs of dry bread. Little taste. Two of us were done with our meals long before the third was served (before they even started making it). Had to talk to 3 people before they could figure out what was going on. 2 star meal (quantity over quality). 1 star service. Won't be back.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE RUGGLES!! I love the fact that this location is BYOB. There is a corking fee of $5 or $6. I was afraid they were going to charge us twice for the corking fee because we brought a 1.5L bottle of wine instead of the "normal" 750ml but they didn't! Yay! They did comment on how big it was, though. ;) - The employees are super nice 99% of the time. - Food is awesome. It's always nice and hot and steaming when I get it. My boyfriend is very picky with how his meat is cooked and both times, his Kobe burger was cooked perfectly. Although, we both thought that it was a little ridiculous that the Kobe burger didn't come with any kind of side. It was $15 JUST for the burger. -_- (lol) - Dessert. TWO WORDS. CHARLOTTE'S WEB. OMG. - They have Sriracha! Oh and lots of other condiments which I like, because I am the condiment Queen. Tip: I'm not sure if they are still selling these cards, but about a month ago, we were offered a Go Local Houston discount card for $10. The card gives you 10% off your entire meal every time you use it and it's already paid itself off. Considering the prices of the menu items, the savings add up quickly (depending on how often you go, of course). I was also told that you can use the card at any of the merchants that offer this card as well. You can find a listing of the merchants on golocalhouston.com . I think you can even buy the card online too. I promise I'm not a rep for Go Local Houston, I just want to help some people out!

My husband and I love this place! We wish it was closer to our home but we make special trips to this location when we can! I've never had a bad meal. Try the spicy chicken tacos! Delish! I also love their flavored teas and the fact that they use organic real food.

This place is consistently decent and it has a big outdoor eating area. I think others are much more impressed by it than I am. I have been twice now and the first time was a fine experience. The second time I went with my parents, sister, and her baby all sitting outside. I had ordered a pizza with a side salad and for some reason they brought out my order in to go containers though I definitely did not ask for them that way nor did I wait at the front for my food but had the buzzer at my table as all of the other sitting in diners did. When I even asked why it came that way to the server, all I received was a blank stare instead of just offering to grab me a plate so I could eat it easier at the table. The box took up half of the table so I ended up having to eat off my lap or would have had to move to another table. I wouldn't have cared at all if they had just offered to bring me a plate so I could more easily eat. Several servers came to the table bringing the other various orders (mine was first out) and none of them offered to grab a plate which would have been appreciated. It was so challenging I finally just gave up and took it home to reheat later. The burgers and chicken sandwich the rest of the family ordered looked good. I was rather blasé to my pizza and salad.

I had been to there other location and was not impressed but my coworker kept raving about their white chocolate bread pudding, so I decided to give their westside location a try instead. First off there is no longer free curbside parking, it is all metered, which almost got me but lucky for me as I was walking away I saw someone rushing to feed the meter. Next, the line inside is crazy, and their delivery system is dumb. It takes forever for the waiter to find you and then even longer to flag someone down to tell them you need/missing something. As far as our lunch went I had the Buffalo burger and sweet potato fries. The buffalo burger was meh and the fries were just not good. I usually never leave fries on the table but just not must have. Now onto the bread pudding. It was more mush then I was expecting. I like it with a little crispy edges with warm softness. Nope. Overall, letdown.

Oh Ruggles Green. You frustrate me. The first time I came here, it was shortly after opening and the place was total chaos. The kitchen was backed-up and my dish came out 30-40 minutes after the rest of my companions got their food. I constantly had to go up to the counter to check on the status of my food and it was just a mad panic back there. The one saving grace was that the burger I got was delicious. I went back recently...obviously the novelty factor has vanished, so the place was much less crowded. They now have this fancy system to bring the orders to the table which I think was a direct response to how chaotic they were in the beginning. My girlfriend ordered a quinoa pasta with turkey meatballs and i ordered a pepperoni pizza. The pasta portion was so small. The pasta was good but the meatballs were on the dry side. My pizza was forgettable and the dough was a bit chewy. I think this is strike 2 for me!

There weren't any servings here. After all the food aren't the best and would go there just for the white chocolate bread pudding .

First time to the "Ruggles Green". I ordered the chicken ceasar salad. The chicken was muy dry. My salad, which was my main course, came before my french onion soup. I actually had to go to the front cashier to ask about it. I noticed that it was sitting there for a while. Once they gave it to me, they didn't even put on the bread topping and cheese. It is a very nice atmosphere, but for the price, I expect more. ... The End

This is their new location on the west side of Houston. We went here for lunch and ate outside under the shaded umbrella tables. They also had slender upright fans blowing just in case it was too hot. I ordered the buffalo burger on wheat bun (medium well) with mozzarella cheese, baked sweet potatoe fries, and unsweet black tea. Wife ordered the pizza and the nina had the chicken strips. Pizza was non greasy and the baked chicken tenders was outstanding. My buger tasted so good I ate it all and had that ultra full feeling but I felt sooooo satisfied. Legit.

One thing I love about this place is that everything is tasty and organic! Second, I absolutely love its location right smack dab in the middle of City Centre that is its own urban city within the big city of Houston. I feel safe here with all the security they have standing at every corner. Third, they offer a wide array of foods and fabulous desserts on their menu and have a separate one for the kiddies. Since I've been eating Organic foods for a while, this is one of the few "Green" spots in town that I actually enjoyed eating at. It's a casual eatery so you basically order at the counter and they give you a placard with a number on it that you insert into a small gadget at your table of choice. Once you insert the placard and the green light goes on, you remove it and place it on the side of the gadget and that's what alerts the folks behind the counter where you are seated. Pretty interesting gadget system I'd say...Also, all the Organic condiments, utensils and drinks are to the right of the cashier so you can basically get refills anytime. I ordered the Spicy Shrimp tacos which were delicious! I like the fact that they serve big portions as well! I also tried their All Natural Buffalo Burger with Sweet Potato Fries and that was excellent! The employees are definitely helpful and pleasant. The art hanging on the walls and the design of the place in general caught my attention as it is a place I could see myself being a regular at. The food prices are a bit on the high side, but Organic food in general is expensive so if you're use to buying your own Organic foods, then the prices here would not even phase you. This place is definitely lively and if you prefer to just people watch, you can do so out on the patio over a beer or wine. This is now one of the few Organic food joints in town that I will come visit again!

Wow, this was my first time at Ruggles Green and I found it more than enjoyable. It was perfect. I had the chicken curry salad and we all shared the Charlotte's web dessert! It was so delectable, but so was everything else! I must say, this is the most friendly place in City Centre - both on one's wallet and tummy. I definitely hope to return soon! It was pretty perfect for New Years Eve withought causing a major dent in our wallets.

Get the butternut squash as a side, it's amazing. I've only gone a handful of times, but my favorite is probably the reuben. The bread pudding is supposed to be insanely delicious...I hate to say it...but I've had better. It is admittedly kind of expensive, but what do you expect from a restaurant in City Centre? Everything is expensive there. It does also get super crowded, so try to avoid it during peak meal hours since there's not very much seating.

We love this place! My husband loves the GF options, so we visit when he needs a burger fix. My kids love running around on the green playing with all the other children. The salads are great! I especially love the Curry Chicken Salad.

This place could be great except the staff especially the cooks do not care enough to make food right the first time. I've been here several times and always have a problem with my food order. I've ordered food a certain way due to food allergies and have gotten my food not how I ordered it and told by the food server that I did not know what I was saying and the order was right. In one instance I ordered a five cheese pizza no ricotta extra cheese so the server comes back with a cheese pizza that has ricotta then tells me it's not ricotta because the chef said so and I should eat it. I demanded to speak with the manager and she quickly fixed the problem but the staff thought I was stupid this has happened before.

I am a frequent patron of the Ruggles Green in Upper Kirby, so I felt like this location would be a safe bet when I was out in West Houston. Ruggles green food has been a hit in my opinion, in fact, i had them cater their bread pudding at my wedding! Sometimes food can only take you so far. One particular staff member was completely rude to me and my family. We walked in, family all moves to the line. Sister with obvious broken leg and is on crutches goes and sits at an available table, you know, because she is on crutches and can't walk. When we get to the register to order, rude cashier tells us that we can't save the table and that sister on crutches must get up and stand away from the table until we get through the line and get our drinks. I explained her broken leg and the crutches were in plain site, but the attendant seemed the least bit sympathetic. Obviously we told her to shove it. As if that wasn't enough, this lady went on to not let me use my go local card on both parts of my two purchases. Something about it has to be in one purchase??? Makes no sense!! She made me so mad, that I do not want to go back to that location. In any event, this had me fuming. I get there is a rule to not save seats so that there is a nice flow. But the staff that works there needs to use their brain a bit more and have a bit more flexibility to make their customers who have trouble getting around more comfortable. I expected a little more out of them, and was disappointed.

The food is good the management is not If you have a large party you want to go to another place. The place gets enough business so do not care about helping you. Good luck finding a table they will not help you (Management does not care). I get in a fight almost every time. I gave it 3 stars for food and location only.

Damn, this place is so bad. I don't understand why people come in. Mac & cheese was awful. Salad wasn't even up to par. Turkey burger was a fail. Still can't believe the Mac & cheese was that bad. Someone once said that Houston is the most under rated food city. After coming here, I'm doubting that. If I could return my food I would.

Although a little on the expensive side, this is a great lunch spot for Houston patio days. It can get crowded, but the food is always consistently good. I like the salmon(rare) salad. This is an easy spot for me to have plenty of healthy eating options that still taste good.

This place is so freaking good. But wow it's so pricey... too expensive for a casual weekly thing considering I eat out a wholeee lot. I got the buffalo burger, and it was PERFECTLY medium rare! And their housemade pickles... keep in mind, I freaking hate pickles. But they were so lightly vinegrated (?) that it seemed more like soft cucumbers with a little vinegar! The bun was freaking good, and it didn't soften from the juices of the patty. Amazing. My boyfriend got the smoked chicken pasta. He loved it so much. Nicely spicy to give you a kick but doesn't burn a path down your throat. Desserts? Yeah, we got two because we couldn't decide on just one. Charlotte's web was spectacular!! The crunch of the heath bar went PERFECTLY well with the whipped cream and the mousse/pudding at the bottom. I'm not a fan of candy and whipped cream, but wow this gave me a mouth orgasm. Domino cake - layers of white chocolate and dark chocolate. First off, I dislike white chocolate. I didn't think the cake would be rich enough for my taste because it had white chocolate...boy was I wrong. As much as I love dark chocolate, I don't think I would have been able to take it if the whole cake was made with that dark chocolate.. it was THAT rich and decadent!! So the white chocolate balanced it out perfectly well. All in all, 50 bucks (with tip) for two college students, and this didn't even include drinks because we just like water. Worth it? Heck yeah. No regrets in coming here. But will we come back often? Probably once in a blue moon. I hear Ruggles Grill actually has restaurant.com coupon offers to help with my wallet. One thing I'm confused about: are we supposed to tip at this place? I did, but I didn't really...require much waiter service... and nobody has their own section/tables to take care of so I assume their hourly pay covers it.

I ordered a cup of tomato basil and it was cold. I told one of the workers but he just gave me a stupid excuse. then I got my Buffalo burger and it was well done when I specifically asked for it to be medium well. I was not happy about the food or the service.

This is definitely my favorite Ruggles in the city. Nearly hidden in the fast-growing confines of City Center - Town&Country area, it's best to park & stroll on in. Parking is most accomodating, as there are several parking lots and a "free" parking garage to choose from. Still a fan of the Ruggles in Rice Village; this one is better b/c the pigeons haven't found out about it, making patio seating as desirable as the weather. Oh, the menu? How can i forget about those heavenly shrimp tacos. I dont know what that sauce is that they put in it, but it makes those tacos talk. I still hear them calling me to come back... as often as i can, i listen. Just found out that 'vegans' and 'vegetarians' are two different things, and you are both welcomed here. Moreover, i urge you to dine-in (more shrimp tacos for me). Shout-out to my wino's & wine drinkers (since they're two different things as well); Ruggles has something for you too.

I am a huge fan of Ruggles Green, but this location is not quite as good as the one on Kirby. First off, they don't serve green zones. I didn't see it on the menu and when I asked the cashier about it, he looked at me like I was crazy. Second, they're skimpy on their portions. My sister's fish tacos barely had any fish on them. However, I love the location. City Centre is booming right now and there's lots of wonderful free parking/parking garages. This one is also much bigger than the Ruggles Green on Kirby and is not as cramped and noisy. There's a lot of outdoor seating too, perfect on a nice, sunny day. However, I still prefer the food & portions @ Ruggles Green on Kirby. Like most of you, I'm a creature of habit and when I find something I like, I stick to it! Edit 5/3/11 - green zones are off the menu at both locations. :(

The food was great, and it's so much bigger than the Ruggles Green close to River Oaks. Of course my burger tasted very "healthy" so it doesn't taste delicious like the unhealthy stuff (5 guys, Smash Brothers, etc). It was really crowded but there are so many tables it opened up fast. The only thing was they had kind of a complicated paging system that involves taking an electronic "number" card and placing it into it's electronic counter-part on the table then taking it out. It was confusing because it didn't work the first few times that i did it.. plus it's just weird to have to follow instructions. Other than that, it was a great experience and I liked the food!

Service can be a bit spotty, and the tables are not the cleanest (like sticky) but the food is pretty good. The goat cheese salad is great - I get that a lot. The fish tacos and hummus plates are really big. No outlets.

Have been to Ruggles a few times and love everything about it! Great food and drinks. The mac and cheese, salads, and margarita pizza are my favorites. Everything is fresh and looks great. They have a pretty good selection of beer and wine. I have never had the desert but it looks good as well. The place is always pretty busy when I go so I guess people like it as much as I do.

Came back here today and tried the Buffalo Burger. It was really pretty satisfying! They gave me an extra big portion so I had a hard time finishing it- but the fries were well-seasoned. Very tasty. I also tried the calamari (4.5/5) and the crab cake (4/5). The sauce that accompanies the calamari is also really good for dipping fries in!

To say that I love this place is almost an understatement. Ok, so I was originally drawn in by the idea that I would be eating healthier here. Haha, not everything here is healthy, but it could be worse. I think what separates it from the regular Ruggles (besides different items offered on the menu), is that they're sourcing ingredients locally and buying organic. I perused the reviews first to find out what to order. I went in with a game plan: veggie panini with the butternut squash subbed for the sweet potato fries. Let me just tell you what was on this sandwich. Grilled sourdough bread, grilled veggies (zucchini, mushrooms, onions), hummus and goat cheese. So, I cannot eat vegetarian. I love veggies, but they don't fill me up. This sandwich totally proved me wrong! After stuffing it full of garlic cloves from the condiments counter (I have a problem) I took a bite...it was so delicious and filling, I scarfed it down! Now the butternut squash...I don't even know what to say. It was so smooth and rich. It's almost like a dessert. Here's where the "healthy" goal of the restaurant is defied--it appears that there's a hefty sprinkling of brown sugar and tiny pools of melted butter on top. I'm not complaining, by any means. I don't care, it's just too good to pass up! So, going beyond the panini that I'm obsessed with...it's counter service, so that's convenient for work lunches. Also, enjoy fighting for a seat outside on the pretty patio. On my most recent visit, a friend had the curried chicken salad, which is her favorite. It looked so good, I think I'll have to stray from my veggie panini next time to try it out. :P I can't believe I'm saying this, but besides the desserts at Ruggles Cafe & Bakery (which will always hold a special place in my heart), I think I prefer Ruggles Green!

Been to the one on Alabama and thought it was great. The City Centre location was quite disappointing. We sent the pizza (smoked chicken) was overdone on the edges and raw in the middle. The pan roasted chicken was very different with curry. Not pleasing. The mashed potatoes were bland. If this were my first time it likely would have been my last.

I've been a fan of Ruggles for years, and I'm just glad that there's a second Ruggles Green in Houston! I went here for dessert after having lunch at another location....the only regret is not eatting lunch and having dessert here! I had myfavorite, White Chocolate bread pudding!! they warm it up and carmelize the top to make the bread nice and crispy on top, place a scoop of ice cream and a small side of raspberry topping for you to drizzle as you please....it was a nice treat! Now I will need to make another trip for lunch or dinner, which I sure will be great!

The Ruggles on Montrose is a Houston institution, and I love the food, so imagine my happiness when I heard they were going to open a Ruggles green in City Centre. The "green" concept is awesome with fresh sustainable ingredients, and fresh food. The location is perfect, with its open space, and easy to hear conversation. Outdoor seating-check...My favorite St. Arnolds Christmas Tree beer--check--The food, eh.... I ordered the Buffalo burger on wheat with the sweet potato fries, and the bf went for the Organic veggie pizza. Both were HIGHLY under seasoned. The burger that I ordered medium was still mooing--or whatever it is buffalo do. I liked the added cucumber on it though I had to pour lots of salt, and mustard to make it taste. The pizza, although crisp that zero flavor, of what you might find in an old folks home. I REALLY wanted to like this place, and will probably give it another shot, but for $35 for lunch, and not happy probably not in the near future.

Yes, it's a great convenient location, but it kinda stops there. After struggling to find a parking spot in the garage at CityCentre, I made my way to Ruggles Green. There is no place to sit and wait for someone else -- unless you want to sit outside in 97 degree weather. There is some covered patio seating on the green, but with the door of the restaurant continuously opening & closing, inside isn't that cool either. You order & pay at the counter, take one of those beepers, and wait. The decor: don't remember, it was that nondescript. Loud -- very loud. Small tables jammed together. My spinach salad was decent, but then what could go wrong? I was, also, disappointed in the "green" space of the plaza outside Ruggles. It's ASTROTURF! Hello. You can't find anything better than that? I thought I was in AZ. Just not impressed. Loud, crowded, too hot, no table service. Onwards ...

So I came here on a Sunday. Me and the Fiancé decided to try it out. I was not disappointed. I got the shrimp tacos and it was so fresh and good! He got the meat ball turkey pastrami and it was to die for and I'm not even a sandwich person. For desserts we got white chocolate bread pudding and creme brûlée! This place is so good and I'm so happy they're opening one up at town center!

Gluten free options??? Really - NOT We drove a ways to go to Ruggles for gluten free pizza and pasta. My sig has celiac and cannot tolerate any gluten. First the menu has a disclaimer about cross contamination and a warning about the possibility of gluten in "gluten free" dishes. What the #@/@*#? We spoke with the manager who warned us away if we really have an allergy. Note to restaurant - 1 out of 123 people have a true serious gluten allergy and are not just doing this as a lark or fad diet. Take the gluten free designations off of your menu.

My first time at City Centre last night... didn't even know it was there! I know, sad. What happened to Town & Country Mall??! haha. We had 3 things (ranked in order of deliciousness): 1. Natural Turkey Meatball Panini on Sourdough - highly recommend this! Made perfectly. I mean... Mozzarella, swiss and fontina cheeses with slow cooked organic tomato sauce and red and yellow peppers. 2. Grilled Chicken Sandwich - so simple, yet so good. The chicken just tastes different here... I guess that's what natural/organic stuff tastes like. The bacon and avocado added the magic to this sandwich. 3. Texas Goat Cheese Salad - high quality chicken but way too much dressing! It was more like vinaigrette dressing soup with a side of lettuce. Very Texas. =) Great atmosphere, quick service.

Holy Moly! What a disaster! Went out to lunch for MLK holiday with a friend. We hadn't seen each other in awhile and wanted to catch up on a nice sunny day. No such luck. This place is completely overrun with poorly behaved children and clueless/brainless parents. What gives? Is this a kindergarten? Mother and Father allowed their 2 children to bring their skateboard/scooters INTO the restaurant. There were kids everywhere running and jumping around tables. The food was only mediocre-- soup not hot and sandwich very much on the small side.. And atmostphere-- what atmosphere? The sound of screaming children? Its so unfortunate that the "green space" isnt green anymore and has been covered in astroturf. I will NEVER return to Ruggles Green and may never return to City Centre. Parents-- if you want to take you kid on a picnic, then take the food to the park and let the kids play. Don't bring them to a restaurant.

Order anything off the menu and you will be safe to enjoy a high-quality and delicious meal. That's why I love to dine here. Ruggles needs a drive-thru, and I'd be here everyday! This Ruggles' location has a COMPLETELY different vibe than the others in town. With that said, it is still very tasty, and I am glad to finally have one on the west part of town!! Oh, they don't have the lemonade here like they do at the Kirby location, and there are some additions to this menu as well. Appetizers: The Hummus is fabulous. I almost always order it even if I'm not super hungry because it is so goo. The Hempandas are also great. I've also ordered the Quinoa Mac N Cheese as an app to share! Entrees: Chicken Curry Salad, RG Blackened Shrimp, Spicy Shrimp Tacos, Beef burger, Veggie Nut burger (VERY different than any veggie burger I've ever had), turkey burger, turkey meatball panini, RG turkey Reuben, Veggie Sourdough Pa nini, Grilled chicken sandwich, and ANY of the pizzas are all brilliant! DESSERT: OMG the Pink velvet cake is my favorite, but I love strawberry. The white chocolate bread pudding is FANTASTIC, and there are several peanut butter dishes that are out of this world. The outside seating is very nice, the food runners are attentive, and in the hotter months there's a sno-cone stand outside!

Ruggles - an oasis of fresh, flavorful, vegetable-based food in desert of deep-fried culinary ennui that is much of Houston. Vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free diners rejoice, Ruggles offers a wealth of options and more orthodox American palates might even be surprised to find they enjoy quinoa-based pasta noodles or a vegetable flatbead pizza. My go-to meal is the chicken curry salad, sub tofu for chicken (yes, they will do that for you :) ). The vegetables don't disappoint and an appropriate amount of curry dressing sprinkled with dried mango and raisins make this salad taste almost indulgent, yet somehow reassuringly guilt free. There are many schools of thought on the best way to serve tofu, but I am wholehearted fan of the hearty, grilled chunks that top this favorite. If you're in the mood for something richer, go for one of the pasta dishes. The quinoa mac and cheese is to die for and the seafood and shrimp pasta delivers the same deliciousness at a slightly reduced guilt factor. The portions are pretty generous (hey, it IS still in Houston), but if you have room for dessert, the creme brulee surprises with a (sacre bleu!) dollop of fresh whipped cream on top. High marks also go to the chocolate cake. This place is great for after work. Grab a bottle of wine, sit out on the patio and enjoy something that satisfies after a long day, but won't necessarily leave you bemoaning your belt. AMEX accepted?: Yes In and Out in Under 60?: Probably not

Ruggles Green is one of those places you really, really want to like, but at the end of the day, you can't force yourself to give it more than the average 3 star rating. Ruggles Green (the original location is in Upper Kirby) is Houston's first "certified green" restaurant, and if you want to compare it to those overpriced, average tasting, organic San Francisco type eateries, I won't hold it against you. The restaurant itself, like the other buildings in City Centre, is phenomenal. It's a warm and open environment, with ample outside seating that lets you enjoy a sunny day in the plaza. You order at the counter, and even on a busy day, the food comes out quick as a button. The menu is reminiscent of regular Ruggles in Rice Village, only more diverse and more expensive. Our table picked up a couple of salads, the caesar and the atlantic salmon, both of which were decent but pricey. A standard salad (no meat) starts at $8.95. We also tried the quinoa mac and cheese, good but also steeply priced. Finally, we had the signature Chef Bruce chicken sandwich, which was priced decently at $9.95 but not really all that good. The "hempenadas," which we didn't get, sounded intriguing, as did the daily specials. There's almost too much on the menu to digest. Like the original Ruggles, the calling card of Ruggles Green is the dessert, which of course we passed on. The white chocolate bread pudding is the favorite at the original, and I expect it's no different here. The ambiance alone makes this place welcome for a return visit, although I'll have to find something better on the menu to try.

I have to write this place up after my wonderful lunch experience yesterday. When the weather is nice this is the place I think of when I want to eat lunch "al fresco." Plentiful tables scattered outside for everyone to enjoy the sun when it's not beating down too hard, although parasols are available to provide some shade and relief. This is by far one of my favorite "patios" besides El Pueblitos. Knowing the weather was a perfect 70 degrees yesterday I just had to escape the office with Stephen R and that is what we just did. I decided to give the daily fresh special a whirl, Braised TX Pork Belly, how could I not with this description: Pork locally sourced from Allen Harrison Hog Farms/Ancient Sea Salt, w/Young Black Walnut Couscous, Grilled Asparagus & White Cherry Glaze. Stephen R. opted for the Wood-fired Quinoa Mac 'n Cheese. I also decided to celebrate this wonderful spring day with a St. Arnold Spring Bock, wise decision. My dish was pricey for lunch at $15.95 but it was DELICIOUS and I took a picture which I'm sharing w/you, it even LOOKED delicious. :) The pork was perfectly braised, it was succulent and the fat was crisped to perfection, yes I even ate some of the thick fat rind that comes a long with pork belly...it was that good. The couscous was firm and not mushy and I believe it was mixed with pesto and what looked like mustard seeds, I scraped it off my plate until it was clean. The white cherry glaze paired well with the pork, pork is usually served with a sweet sauce like apple or prune and this was a cool twist. The asparagus was crunchy, just the way I like it, don't like limp things! :P Stephen R's Mac 'n Cheese was pretty amazing, he couldn't finish it due to the heaviness of it. It's made with 5 cheeses ya'll! Swiss, mozzarella, parmesan, sharp cheddar and fontina, it's creamy which also means FILLING. We also decided that we couldn't visit Ruggles Green without ordering a dessert, my favorite is the Bread Pudding which has already been raved about in all it's milky glory. We decided to split the carrot cake, which was good but nothing to write home about, the side of ice cream is probably the best part about ordering dessert here. Tastes very fresh and non-chemically. I'm curious to see what other specials Ruggles Green will come up with, albeit pricey they're worth treating yourself to, just don't do it too often. ;)

You must try the warm white chocolate bread pudding. I've never had another so wonderful.

So I heard from dearest friends that the bread pudding was off the hook here.. yea.. uh huh.. well Yelpers.. it's true! It's pretty darn good! I also tried the Domino (chocolate cake with white something) and the Strawberry cake. The Domino was pretty good sweet and the Strawberry cake was ehhhh and kind of dry. Oh, I love the ambience there. It's nice and modern and clean. Note: It takes a while for the bread pudding to come out after you order it.

Ruggles is one of my all - time faves for casual dining and take out. Those looking for organic eats and some healthy fare should definitely test the menu. EVERYTHING is good!! My favorite, the Honey Fried Goat Cheese Salad is orgasmically sweet, salty, and nutty all at once. I've tried just about everything here and the food is always fresh...absolutely delish! I prefer the original W. Alabama location (which I frequent at least twice weekly...hint hint) because it's much cozier than it's brassy new City Center counterpart, but I won't gripe about the City Center atmosphere because the service is great and the food simple and delicious as always.

To be fair it's not trying to be Ruggles. This stepchild chain of the old school favorite in The Montrose area is more akin to Cafe Express. It's not cheap and I can't imagine what the prices would be if they offered full table service. My first experience was underwhelming. You order at the counter but they bring the food to you. You can get beer and wine but none of the hard stuff. Drinks are self-service (accept the beer and wine of course...bummer). I tasted the french onion soup, the stuffed artichoke (a special that night) and a margarita pizza. The soup had great flavor and a rich dark color, the sign of onions that had been sauteed for a long time. I took exception to the swiss cheese melted on top as I think gruyere is more common. The cheese had sunk into the soup while on it's trip from kitchen to table except for the portion atop the slender slice of baguette floating in the cup. The artichoke was just okay. It was underdone and needed about 15 more minutes in the steamer or oven. The stuffing had decent flavor but a mushy texture. I would have expected a crunchier and more toasted texture. Again, put that puppy back in the oven! The 'underdoneness' meant gnawing at the leaves rather than a blitheful slip through the teeth. The Margarita pizza was decent but nothing spectacular. And I still don't understand why places that serve pizza haven't addressed the issue of 'hot pizza on a cold plate means a soggy crust in 2 minutes.' Why don't restaurants either (a) warm their plates (a must for any serious restaurant) or (b) serve the pizza on a rack so the crust stays crisps instead of soaking up the condensation under it? For two people with a bottle of wine we paid $60. Thank goodness we didn't have to tip. I'm not eager to return.

Ordered some soup and some fries for dinner the other day. The location is nice, as it is in the City Centre area. But one negative aspect with that is it gets really difficult to find parking. The food was OK. I liked the soup and the fries. But it wasn't really spectacular. Portions were decent, but you're not going to necessarily be stuffed. Service was average. It took a little while for the food to come out. I really wanted to like the place, but....meh.

I'm a fan of the Ruggles chain, and I really like the idea of having a normal food restaurant where I don't have to worry about pesticides, Monsanto, hormones, and other garbage being added to my food like most food in this nation. I've eaten several times at the other Ruggles Green and like it, but always felt that it didn't have enough space either for parking or inside. The addition of the new one helps, and there is ample parking, as well as a really nice location overlooking a modern plaza with a big fountain. I still can see this place being overcrowded like the other, but at least this Ruggles Green has a larger space and a nicer patio setting. However, I wouldn't come here with a large group. If you've eaten at the other Ruggles Green, expect more of the same. If you are unfamiliar with their food, it's basically your typical "trendy" comfort food. You get sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, pastas, etc. with unusual and healthier or organic ingredients. Keep in mind that organic food doesn't mean that it's "healthy" in terms of fat, salt, or sugar. It just means that it isn't filled up with poisons, hormones, etc. that may have adverse effects on you. If you eat hamburgers, fries, and cake every day at Ruggles Green you're probably going to have about the same health problems as if you ate those things anywhere else. I personally like to eat their Cuban panini, which is basically a pork sandwich with onions and poblano pepper strips served on toasted bread. It's simple, yet delicious. I also like their salads, and have eaten several other items on their menu. I've never had the hempanadas. Quite frankly, they seem sort of gimicky to me. Their hummus is good, and the dried tomatoes on the side give it a nice touch. If you are coming here for sweets, you will either have a good time or a bad time depending on your expectations. I like to eat at Ruggles Bakery in Rice Village, and that is my favorite place to get cake in Houston. Ruggles Green has similar items, but they are often smaller, and some of them I'm not as big of fans of. If you go there with no preconceived notions about it though, their desserts are great. Just don't go expecting a slice of cake to be big enough for two or three people. Overall, Ruggles Green is one of those restaurants I want to eat at more often both because it tastes great, and because I like being able to eat healthier more environmentally friendly food.

Ruggles green is one of my favorites. I went here to eat with some friends and the food was great. I ordered the margarheta/margarita pizza and I loved it! Memorial is a little too far from us so I try to go to the one in Kirby which works perfectly fine with me. I never get tired of this place and they have the best sweet potato fries ever! I definitely recommend the place. The only down side though, the location gets packed and it gets a bit hard to fine a decent and closer parking lot. Weekend is always busy so expect it if you plan on going here.

After Happy Hour at Brio, my husband insisted we walk down to Ruggles & get the white chocolate bread pudding (even though it was his birthday). He has been raving about how they have the best bread pudding and OMG was he right! The perfectly lightly toasted bread was sinfully sweet with yummylicious pudding goodness! This is no doubt on my list for last dessert I have to devour before I die! I already felt like I was in heaven after that first bite. I haven't tried their food, but 5 stars for their bread pudding!

Oh, how I love this location 100x more than the one on W. Alabama. So much more of a relaxed atmosphere and SPACIOUS! I really feel like I can sit back, relax, and enjoy my meal without dirty looks from hungry patrons trying to communicate with me to hurry-the-eff-up-I-need-a-place-to-sit-and-eat! Finding a spot to park here ain't that bad either. Now onto the food. I've visited this location several times and I'm still looking forward to exploring other items on the menu. -Spicy Fish Tacos: grilled or fried fish, green cabbage, micro greens, pico de gallo, herb aioli, queso fresco and spicy mango chipotle sauce on corn tortillas. I'm sure would be really, really good if they're weren't so spicy! And I mean extremely spicy! I know that I'm sensitive to spiciness but I've had two other people who I know love spicy food try it and think it was a bit too much. Try asking for the spicy mango chipotle sauce on the side so you can taste it and then drizzle on as much as you want. -Jenny Dipper Salad: grilled portobello mushrooms, asparagus, tomatoes and grilled red onions on a bed of baby spinach with 3 dressings on the side to dip your salad into, homemade blue cheese, sun dried tomato vinaigrette, and honey mustard. This salad is AMAZING. Getting a little bit of each of the vegetables on your fork and dipping it into one of the dressings (my fav. the sun dried tomato vinaigrette) is ridiculously tasty. -Grilled Chicken Sandwich: marinated grilled chicken breast, apple smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle (that taste more like cucumber, which I actually like), onion, avocado, swiss cheese, and mango ranch dressing on a whole wheat bun. Instead of fries I had a side order of fruit salad. Om nom nom. Just plain good. -Grilled Fresh Natural Turkey Burger: baby spring mix, dijon mustard sauce and fresh mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, pickle and red onion on a whole wheat bun. BLAND, DRY, ACK. At one point I was dipping the burger into ketchup. The fries that came with this meal though were yum! -Wood-fired Quinoa Mac & Cheese: quinoa pasta with swiss, mozzarella, parmesan, sharp cheddar and fontina cheese and bread crumbs. This mac and cheese is described as being crispy baked. I saw nor tasted any crisp-ness in this dish. I also could've sworn I had some sort of diced onion, or more likely, diced shallot in the dish as well. Not bad, but definitely not something I'd order as a meal by itself. -Domino Cake: dark chocolate cake with alternating layers of white and dark chocolate mousse, iced with a dark chocolate ganache. Best thing everrrr. A must try.

This is a wonderful restaurant for vegetarians or those on gluten-free diets. I am neither of those, but have a wonderful time eating here whenever I come. I've had the Spicy Southwest Chicken Pasta - very tasty and filling enough for another meal. I've also had a couple of their sandwiches. Always be smart and leave room for their awesome desserts!~ Pink velvet cake and white chocolate bread pudding are pretty popular = very decadent and filling, but so worth it!

I dine frequently in the citycenter area before catching a movie or for late night restaurant options there. So 5 months ago I decided to give Ruggles a try but as soon as I stepped in, I was shocked by a horrible smell that made me sick and shut down my appetite. So I decided to leave right away. Today I decided to stop by again since I moved in the area and in my mind I was saying that day was a bad day for them. To my surprise the smell was there again but less in intensity!! It is really weird cause apparently many reviewers noticed the same thing but it looks like management there are just enjoying that smell. Anyhow, I ordered in a rush and sat outside and thank god they bring food to the table. I had the grilled chicken sandwich which was good along with an extra crispy fries. food, service and location gave Ruggles 3 stars. The place is a "green" copy of cafe express if you ask me with better quality meats and they bring you food to the table. However, next time I would go to cafe express cause I might get sick from the smel

You almost can't go wrong with Ruggles Green. From the convenience of ordering quick gourmet fresh fare without the need of a waiter/tress, to the great iced tea selection, hot beverages, and homemade desserts, you're in for a satisfying delectable experience. They make great tacos, which include fish, shrimp, and spicy chicken. Their roasted chicken sandwich, smothered with an array of toppings, like fried plantains, is quite a messy, but flavorful experience. If you're just there for coffee and dessert, their domino cake is rich & sweet! Their strawberry cake is great if you're a berry person. Overall, great prices, decent portions, and great customer service.

How horribly disappointing. I ordered the veggie burger. It was very large (too big), but way overpriced. It tasted OK, but not for that price. I would rather have a bit more variety for a vegetarian option. Make a smaller burger, and offer more other sides to go with it. The place is rather crowded and noisy, due to the narrow seating area and tables too close together. Getting to and from the counter and tea refill area is annoying.

Ruggles Green is that dietary-restriction friendly, fast casual, restaurant that tries to be inventive, but caters toward a milder palette. Like, not a single dish on the menu is spicy, but here's some curry-basted chicken for your salad! What? Right on? I've been a few times, and find some of the salads decent. I dislike salads in general, but respect when respect is due. The quinoa mac and cheese is tasty, but requires sriracha. The veggie tacos are the go to vegetarian item here. This time, I ordered a squash spaghetti off the specials menu. Aside from ~3x too much olive oil, the dish was nice. It used mushrooms quite well. I also had the vegetable minestrone soup, which was a bit too much like cheap canned soup for me. Yes, I put sriracha on both dishes this time around. I'm not a freak for spicy food, but vegetables and salt alone do a terrible job of making water flavorful. Olive oil and pepper make a nice mix, but can't define squash noodles without more help. Looking around Ruggles Green is like staring into the struggling soul of the Texas millennial diet. Unsure of what to do with ethnic flavors but apply them to chicken atop salad or mashed potatoes, struggling to make the chicken for steak substitution in the first place, unsure of how to eat healthy aside from a salad, and still trying to make burgers and fries into a balanced meal, patrons of Ruggles Green manage to maintain a bright vibe despite these deep food-philosophical battles. Perhaps I will return, alone, to observe the human condition in its most vulnerable state: eating lunch.

I was in Houston for the night, so my friend and I decided to eat at Ruggles Green. Food: They have many healthy options at Ruggles. I ordered the All Natural Beef Burger and I really enjoyed it. Having "All-Natural" in the name makes me feel very good about my health lol I was honestly nervous about it being too green but the burger had so much flavor! I actually liked the whole-wheat bun that's given with the burger! The fries were great too! I just wish they would've been thinner and crispier! 7/10 for the fries! Service and ambiance: The service was quick and everyone was very nice! The way the restaurant's set up is quite stunning! It almost resembles a green house. If it wasn't raining that day it would have lit up the room! Would I come back to Ruggles? Yes! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I always like Ruggles Green cause their salad are ON POINTE - with light, fresh, crunchy, flavorful, and healthy in mind. I ordered the salmon salad and it was phenomenal! I had not expected it to be soooooo good. It's the priciest of their green plates, but totally worth it. I enjoyed the covered patio next to the courtyard of CityCentre, even though it was 100 degrees in the the sun..the shade was comfortable and the fans kept the breeze flowing. Also, found out that Ruggles has homemade PICKLES that you can get little cups of -- ugh so gooodddddd. Who doesn't love a little sweet and buttery pickle snack?!

*This review is for the White Chocolate Bread Pudding ONLY* Came on a Sunday evening with my mom on a recommendation of a few family members. Located in the heart of City Centre next to a nice area where kids can run around while families hang out. Line was short, service was quick, and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the non-rainy weather of Houston Texas. This is a order at the counter and then your food will be delivered to you type of service. Great interior decor, if I lived in Houston, I could see myself coming here often to meet up with friends to catch up. $6.99 for a White Chocolate bread pudding that was topped with vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate with sides of raspberry sauce and a strawberry. Beautiful presentation that made something as simple as bread pudding seem elegant. Perfectly warm with melt in your mouth goodness that pairs well with the vanilla ice cream. Reminiscent of a pizookie from BJs. All the components of the dish elevated what would have just been normal bread pudding. I would recommend this dish to anyone looking for a dessert to share!

Will be back & Definitely recommend!! Everything I tried @ ruggles was delish! Even got some hemp brownies to take on my flight. Pasta, soup, sandwich ... You name it. It is all amazing flavor & freshness. Portions are more than plentiful. There patio is cool too.

I was so looking forward to eating my lunch on the patio and enjoying the rain. Unfortunately, my burger was awful! The bottom bun was soggy, the tomato was the but end with the stem, and worst of all after I took my first bite I realized that the meat was raw! I asked for medium and I got raw hamburger meat! I was so grossed out I asked for a refund. The manager gave me the refund and offered a gift card for next time but I declined the gift card. I will not be coming back here again! I hope I don't get sick from eating raw hamburger meat...

My co-workers and I went during lunch hour. It does get pretty busy. The only lace they had open was outside. It was pretty sunny out and quite warm. I had the buffalo burger with sweet potato fries. It was delicious. The burger was juicy and flavorful. The fries were crunchy. One of my co-workers ordered the bread pudding. Even though the chocolate melted pretty quickly, it was warm and so delicious. The bread was soft and the white chocolate gave it a decadent finish. I highly recommend.

Good place for hang out at City Centre. They offer variety of salads which are very healthy. You can never go wrong with salad here. I love the blackened shrimp and the Asian salad. Saw a lot of people ordered pizza too, i bet they are also good. Wanna take a break from meat and heavy sugar meal? Ruggled Green is a good choice.

When it comes to the city centre Ruggles green is a good place to visit. Its been a while since I've been back. I usually hit up yardhouse for the wide selection of booze. My usual is the veggie nut burger diary free add avocado with sweet potato fries. Delicious! I remember back in the day I tried the quinoa mac & cheese, the margarita pizza which are good, not great but still good. But now I solely rely on the nut burger, & who can forget the hummus. I think the hummus is exceptional! Comes with sun dried tomatoes & soft pita. My goodness my mouth is watering just thinking about it. A must try if you haven't already. Ruggles has a small selection of beer, wine, cider etc. I tried ace pear cider for the first time at this place, now me & a buddy are actually brewing are own cider cause of ace. Got to start somewhere, so we still trying to master the art. Anyways, facility gets busy around lunch & dinner time the usual hours. Service can be slow at those peak hours so be patient. Restrooms are small but clean which I appreciate. If you choose to take carry out, don't be surprised. They have a 3% increase on take out orders for the supplies. If your like me & appreciates a facility who only uses recycled goods & are environmentally then you wont mind. If you do then thats all you. Good place to try on a date night. Lots of desserts for the sweet tooth wonders. Enjoy!

I've been to Ruggles Green a few times at this location. I came here for lunch recently Sunday, and the line was long but moved pretty quickly. There are plenty of seats inside, but I chose to eat outside on a pretty day. The ordering style is similar to McAlisters or Panera Bread. You order off the menu, and they give you a numbered tracking device. It is self-serve for utensils, fountain drinks/tea, and sauces. We ordered the All Natural Buffalo Burger, Steak Salad, and White Chocolate Bread Pudding. All Natural Buffalo Burger (3/5): My friend ordered this. I only took a bite of this with the sweet potato fries. It was my first time trying buffalo - much healthier. Steak Salad (3/5): This is the second salad I tried from here. It was from their daily specials, not on the regular menu. It contains mixed greens, 6oz flank steak, tomatoes, red onions, boiled eggs, avocado, cheese, and bacon. The mango sauce was exquisite, not too sweet - just delicious. Overall, I liked this salad, just was disappointed at first. I wanted my steak medium rare... Not well-done. White Chocolate Bread Pudding (4/5): Ruggles Green is known for this. Try it! Presentation is great as well. I just wish they can give you an extra scoop of ice cream. All desserts are $7. Overall, decent food and beer selection. It's more of a lunch place. I would recommend trying other restaurants for dinner. It is located in the heart of City Centre, next to Kendra Scott or Straits.

This was the first time I've been to this particular location and it was a great experience. I'm a huge fan of ruggles green. The food is high quality, organic, and of course delicious. I've always go for their Kobe beef burger (AMAZING) so this time I tried the roasted chicken sandwich and omg it was absolutely amazing. A warning: it is messy, it is tasty, it is delicious, it is filling, and it will leave you happy. Think of it is a sloppy joe, but with pulled chicken. Absolutely delicious!

Love the Citycentre area because of the atmosphere. The restaurant was decorated really well and there is a nice outdoor patio seating area. This place was highly recommended by some friends. Process: (1) You get a menu (2) order first, (3) and find seats after you order. (4) Then, Some then comes around and brings you your order when it's ready. I got the fish tacos ($12) , which a lot of people raved about, and the award winning white chocolate bread pudding ($7). The fish tacos were good but good use a better, spicier sauce. The chocolate bread pudding was delicious! The salads and pizza looked really good. It's a great restaurant for the price. Way better than Yard House around the corner.

I had the shrimp tacos and precisely asked them NOT spicy. When the food arrived I almost thought the order was wrong since the tacos were covered by a forest of salad, probably used to cover the miniature size shrimps. The plate was also infested with onions and of course the tacos were spicy. Very disgusting taste! GF had a plate of mac and cheese and couldn't even finish it. Overall a very dissatisfying dinner.

I first visited this location on a Thursday night and I was surprised at how busy it was! The restaurant does a good job at explaining that you order at the cashier and then deliver it to you. My table ended up ordering the Margherita Pizza, and the Cajun Spicy Shrimp Pasta. The pizza was a good size and my only complaint would be that by the time my plate came the crust was soggy enough that I could not really pick up the individual pieces. As for the pasta, the cajun flavors were just right: the shrimp were seasoned deliciously and not too chewy. I personally liked that it came with a dollop of ricotta, but I know some people don't like that. The overall ambience of the cafe is nice. It seems more upscale than it is with faux candles on each table and interesting artwork on the walls. Next time I'll be sure to order at least one of their delicious desserts!

I've been to Ruggles Green a couple of times now, and I always expect more than I get back. For a "healthy" option, it's not bad. I have yet to try the gluten free pastas, but they look pretty good. However, overall it's a bit pricy for an alright experience. I've tried two different pizzas. They sound good in theory, but the crust is a bit soggy and they are more greasy than I would expect from a place like this. My favorite dish was the calamari on special that night. The calamari was crispy and fresh and the sauce was good. The kale caesar was ok, not amazing (and not worth the price). And the pork sandwich was a bit dry and not very memorable. Overall, they have something to please a wide variety of people but a bit overrated.

We've been coming here on Sunday's to let the kids (we meet up with another family) burn off some energy outside. We time it so that we're able to get a table outside to keep a close eye on them while we drink (perhaps it's more like guzzle) some wine. The prices per bottle are very reasonable, and they have a bar outside which makes it that much more convenient. We usually just snack on pizza or desserts, but I've tried my son's chicken fingers and wow... they are tasty! The pizzas are good too, and I love their red (it should be called pink) velvet cake. It's their healthier version of red velvet, so I feel better eating it. :) They also have a live band in the evenings on weekends, so be careful or you'll be having so much fun dancing and running after your kids that you don't realize you've killed almost 2 bottles of wine yourself. Oh wait, that was me. Hehe...

    1. Service - Line up, order up front, grab a number, fill your own drink, find an open seat, and the food will come right out. This is a self service restaurant. You grab your own utensils and you refill your own drink (tea, water, or sodas only). 2. Price - Not exactly cheap. Food can range from $10-$30 a person. 3. Ambiance - Nicely decorated, high ceilings, lots of booths, and outdoor seating available. Dress code is casual. 4. Food - The food here is ok, but it depends on what you order. Fish tacos were not so tasty because of the veggies, and the pepperoni pizza was too salty. The desserts here are really good though, especially their White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Their salad portions are huge. My favorite is their Atlantic Salmon Salad. 5. Cleanliness - Very clean including the restrooms. Men and women share the same sinks. This should be a 3.5 star because I have a mix feeling on the food. But since I can't, I'm going to round up. I can see myself coming back.

I love coming to this place. They have a variety of food options. Today I had a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato basil soup, and for dessert, pink velvet cake. The food overall tho is delicious and all the staff is great, although Magda is my favorite!

Desserts: The white chocolate bread pudding and Charlotte's Web - especially the latter - are hefty guilty pleasures. Mains (mostly per my previous review): - The white pizza with bacon is delicious and is another repeat entree. - Goat cheese salad - Grilled vegetable salad, light on the oil - Hummus, but in oven-baked pita bread. Easily the best dining option at City Centre. That's not saying a whole lot but hey.

This is the best location of Ruggles in our city. The service is great, and the patio takes this place over the top. It is expansive, and just along the courtyard of City Center so perfect for people watching. Great for families to, as the children have a place to stretch their legs while parents finish their meal or just sit and talk after dining. Food on par with all other locations, but service and atmosphere take this one over the top.

I appreciate that it offers some good options re dietary restrictions and good location. I went there with my friend and our two kids today. It was loud and chaotic inside so we sat on the patio. I ordered a cheese pizza for my LO and a quinoa side salad and it came to 19.00. I never got a drink or anything. I didn't get a breakdown of the receipt and it was so hot and hectic that I left without going in to double-check it. It seems a little $$ though. The salad tasted ok but the pizza was sort of greasy and didn't really look or taste very good. I don't think the dough was totally cooked either. And my LO just kept spitting it out and trying to leave for the birds...

Ruggles Green offers diners a false sense of healthiness. With Green being one of the two words in the name, you would imagine that salads would be centric. Alas, this Citycentre favorite cranks out great burgers, alternative pasta dishes (give their mac and cheese a spin), and quite possible the best bread pudding in all of Texas. Yes, I know... big claim. With ample seating, this location provides indoor and outdoor seating (which provides appropriate climate for about 4 months of the year in Houston). The layout of the queue, a principle all too familiar in this day and age of fast casual dining, makes ordering and waiting bearable. The aforementioned mac and cheese provided a cheesy and creamy balance to the light-ish fried goat cheese salad. But, the proof is in the (bread) pudding. They only use bread innards, so as to make this masterpiece as rich and smooth as can be. You never know the negatives of crust until you don't have it anymore in BP. Oh, and they mix in some white chocolate. Reviews are not necessary for outdoor shopping malls such as CC, but I thought I might provide some insight on what RG has to offer.

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a higher Yelp rating, I LOVE IT! A friend introduced me to this place a few years back and now every drive through Houston results in a stop here. Everything is so incredibly fresh and even when you aren't eating healthy, you feel like you are because of how fresh all of the veggies are. I've tried a few things, Salmon Pesto Pasta, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Buffalo Burger. After tasting my way around the menu I've decided that my favorite is the Buffalo Burger. The meat has a great flavor! It kind of stinks they don't have the option for American cheese though. I've tried both fries. I lovelovelove the sweet potato fries here. I mean, they are both good. But if you want good sweet potato fries, get them here. I've never tasted any that taste like these. They are incredibly sweet and you can really taste the potato, most other places burn sweet potato fries so they end up tasting crunchy and tasteless. Ruggles nailed it. Both in picking the right potatoes and cooking them to perfection. I'll continue to stop by any time I'm in the Houston area!

Have you ever seen one of those signs that says, "Under New Management?" Well you don't need to see one here to know this location has a new manager. The whole tone of the place has changed. They are busy as hell and twice I have had a manager or asst. ask me how things are and bring me extra coffee. This so reminds me of the great days at the River Oaks location. When I learned that Alec (a cashier at RO a long time ago) was the manager, I was ecstatic. The food is back to Ruggles Green standard and.... it is consistent! The staff hasn't changed and many of the really great ones are still here, but you just see what a manager who understands brings to the table. I bet they create more new managers out of this location in the next year than any other. And....just had the hemp brownie with coffee. I swear I won't eat tomorrow! Thanks to Alec and your great team,

Had the spicy chicken tacos, and they were fantastic. Not very "spicy", but that was ok with me. Just be warned if you like things really hot. Staff recommended the Saint Arnold "Elissa" IPA, which was also a great combination. It's my first time at this location, and I'm no Mexican food connoisseur, but I'd highly recommend. Nice atmosphere too, and decent tunes on the stereo.

Best bread pudding ever. I'm not even a sweets person, but this item is so good. Must have if you come!! I've been here a few times and I honestly prefer the dessert over their savory foods. I got carrot cake yesterday and that was really good as well. All their desserts are $7 and you have the option of making it gluten free for an extra $1, for you health nuts. My goal is to try all desserts there :)

My son and I always enjoy coming here for a quick meal. The kids meal are very affordable and they give you ample amount of food. We typically sit outside so my son can play on the green while we wait for our food to be served. Once he is done eating, I get to enjoy a glass of wine of cup of coffee while he goes back to the green to play.

We were craving dessert tonight and this was the closet satisfaction we could find. Of course, we ordered the white chocolate bread pudding. Yes, it was just as heavenly as the last time I had it at the location in Rice Village. Instead of the crispy cookie that formerly garnished the dessert, it is now made of milk chocolate that melts right onto the warm bread pudding. Great addition. The decor of this location is very different than other locations. It classier with an artsy, modern look -- a very nice touch. There are also electronic devices at every table. You insert your order ticket into it, and the staff will know where to deliver your food when it is ready. Talk about technology! I am impressed with this Ruggles. The only problem is that the parking at the City Centre can be a pain on a busy Friday night.

In love with the white chocolate bread pudding! This location is excellent. Great for kids because you could eat outside (when the weather is nice) and watch your kid play while you eat or better yet, bribe your kid to eat because then they will be able to play later with all the kids!

We came here on a double date in the middle of the week. The food was good, but a tad pricey. I would give it an 'a-ok' because it was good, but I'm not sure I would come back. Shrimp tacos: 3/5 - There were four mid-sized tacos on corn tortillas with some heavy roughage but no rice or beans. The tortillas fell apart when you picked them up. It was 'a-ok.' Buffalo Burger: 4/5 - I was surprised by the flavor - it wasn't dry or too gamey. It's 98% fat free, and that's really great when you're dieting for a wedding dress. The fries were soggy (I wasn't going to eat it anyway). The chipotle ketchup is a little runny, but the flavor was great. I liked the homemade pickles too. The roasted garlic needs to be roasted a tad bit longer so it's not as potent. My friends ordered the calamari, and for $10, I would have felt ripped off. It was maybe a cup's worth. The service was nice when we ordered - answered my questions without getting annoyed. It wasn't busy either.

From reading the mixed reviews, I was skeptical when a friend suggested this location for lunch. It was a gorgeous October day to be out and about, so I said why not...and I was glad that I came. The veggie pizza was amazing! Till this day I dream about the abundant amount of mozzarella. fresh sweet veggies and the crispy thin crust. It still tasted good the next day after it had been refrigerated. I was never a sweet tooth, but the white chocolate "bread pudding" was decadent. My only complaint was that the consistency was more similar to custard than bread pudding, which was a bit misleading.

This is the first Ruggles Green I went to and it made me a fan. Lots of veggie tasty options. The tomato basil soup, goat cheese salad, and veggie burgers are favorites. I really like their ice tea selection too.

Ruggles Green probably has the best location in Citycentre. I really like the interior of the restaurant, with its high ceilings and large windows. There is also outdoor seating right next to a large green lawn. It makes you forget that you are right next to a major freeway interchange (almost). The restaurant is always packed during lunch time (the only time I've ever been). Sometimes there is even a line out the door, but the line goes fairly quickly. Finding a place to sit, especially if you want to be outside, is another issue. On to the food... The first thing I tried at Ruggles Green was the natural beef burger. The burger was topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and a spring mix on a wheat bun. Dry and devoid of flavor would be an apt description of this burger. Easily the most forgettable item I've had at Ruggles. I've tried three of the wood fired pizzas. They were the Margherita Pizza, Pepperoni, and the Five Cheese Pizza. Tomatoes, roasted garlic, basil, thyme, oregano, and two different cheeses made up the Margherita Pizza. The five cheese pizza consisted of fontina, mozzarella, parmesan, ricotta and romano cheeses. The pepperoni pizza was topped with tomatoes, garlic, mushrooms, onions and of course, pepperoni. The pizzas looked great, but their tastes didn't quite match their looks. The best was the five cheese pizza. The last entree that I've tried is the Wood Fired Quinoa Mac & Cheese. This was baked quinoa pasta, bread crumbs, and five different cheeses (cheddar, fontina, mozzarella, parmesan, swiss). Just like the other entrees, this wasn't anything special. Not much flavor even though there were (supposedly) five cheeses. Although I've yet to be impressed with any entree, I've enjoyed every dessert I've had at Ruggles Green. A few desserts I have tried are the oreo cheesecake, pink velvet cake, and organic carrot cake. The cakes were moist and had layers of flavor. The desserts each came with organic vanilla bean ice cream and strawberries. The pink velvet cake is currently my favorite. Ignoring the desserts, I would describe the food that I've tried as mostly bland and forgettable (or maybe I'm just trying the wrong things). On the other hand, I really like the desserts. They are the only reason I agree to come back for lunch, besides the outdoor seating. It's getting hot so that reason is about to disappear. The service has been mostly good. Entrees have come out in reasonable amounts of time, but almost every dessert I've ordered has taken way too long to be brought. It's almost like they forget about my order, and then right before I'm about to complain to someone, my dessert magically appears in front of me. Overall, I think Ruggles Green has expensive, forgettable food, that is only somewhat redeemed by its desserts.

The fried honey goat cheese salad is amazing! Fish tacos were okay. Love the fresh table pickles! Staff is very helpful. Food is a bit pricey and parking is a pain, but good if you want to relax and try something new.

I only tried one dish here: their signature white chocolate bread pudding. I was so excited to try this b/c I had my first bread pudding experiences recently, but instead all I got was an overly-sweetened, uneatable dessert. My friend wouldn't even help me finish. I think only if I drenched the pudding in black coffee would the sweetness become bearable. On the other hand, the dessert was plated very well (see picture). I have to give major cred to that b/c I enjoy well-presented food. Furthermore, usually pretty food means tiny portions, but the bread pudding is a beast of a dessert -- a boatload of pudding is what I thought. The pudding part was very good too, and the berries were a nice touch (and not too sweet haha). The service was also top notch for me. There's a service button at the table (that actually works), and you can choose anywhere to sit b/c you receive an electronic card that lets them know which table to go to. I like the separation of counter from the seating area too. The entire establishment is very clean and modern (I love air hand dryers). Despite all the good, this place only deserves a two-star rating. The restaurant is pricey, and when I pay good money for a signature dish, I expect satisfaction. Instead, all I got was a sick stomach.

Went there with a bunch of girls on a laid back Wednesday night and I ordered the Texas Caesar chicken salad. Well, it's fresh and quite standard. Nothing too mind blowing but it's a good salad. My friends ordered different kinds of pasta and it looked much better than my food...go with that!

They have very large portions in my opinion. This is a great location. There are more restaurants, bars, shopping, and so much more nearby. My first time here was on a Saturday night. Ruggles Green was super packed! The food came out quick which is a plus. The second time I came on a Tuesday night. There were a good amount Calamari: The first time I had it was perfect. The sauces, the breading stayed intact, seasoned perfectly, and cooked perfectly. The second time was pretty awful. Some we good perfectly. Most of them were tough. The breading kept coming apart. It was also very little. I felt ripped off. Greek Pizza: I had it the Saturday night. It was pretty good. It was fresh. I would give it three stars, but my boyfriend thought it was very good. The Cuban Sandwich: It is very dry.... 1 star. It has good flavor that lingers in and out. Hummus: hummus was alright. The pita bread was what impressed me. It was delicious! I could eat it by itself. Shrimp Pasta: very garlicy. not much flavors beside that. 1 star. Chicken Tacos: 2 stars. It doesn't taste that great. The texture isn't very good either. Fish Tacos: Very good! The texture of the fish was good. Flaky and soft. The cabbage was my favorite part. The fish taco by itself wasn't great; The hot sauce given is a must to make it taste very good.

I enjoyed my lunch at Ruggles today. Had the veggie panini, which was fresh and yummy, and came with decent fries. The place is pretty nice, you go up and order and they bring the food to you-which works well for groups that need separate checks. The menu is creative and patio area is quite nice. If anyone is from the South Bay Area in California, the menu and atmosphere remind me of Sonoma Chicken Coop.

Just ok. We went here for dinner when it was very cold outside, so sitting outside was not an option. We walked in and found that absolutely every seat at every table was taken. I was happy to see the manager out there monitoring the seating situation. He was sure we'd find a seat, so we ordered and waited. Within 5 minutes we were seated at a table which had been quickly cleaned after the previous patrons left. The cashier who took our order was really nice and repeated everything back, which makes me wonder how she made a mistake on my order. I detest pickles but when it arrived, it was bathed in pickle juice :( Anyway, our food came out crazy fast, so much so that I wondered if they just reheat things back there. My husband ordered the Turkey burger, which at most places takes a really long time. Turkey burgers don't have a lot of fat and take a long time to cook. His turkey burger came out with everything else, in record time. The food was all just ok. The chicken sandwich and turkey burger were fine, nothing special. It was $25 for the two sandwiches, each with fries and a soda. I did like the service, the manager was on top of everything, tables were cleared quickly, and food came out fast. It was pretty loud inside, but I bet it would be lovely to sit outside and eat lunch or dinner, unfortunately, it was right at freezing when we were there, so that wasn't an option. Ruggles Green is definitely one of the more casual options in City Centre, so a good place to get a quick bite. I also like its proximity to the free parking garage, it makes it very convenient.

I so wanted to like this place, the reviews were good, the menu was so simple (I mean it's pretty hard to get the stuff on their menu wrong) I got the french onion soup to start, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great, the cheese film on top made it difficult to eat, and it was way over spiced, the bay leaf and other spices in it were just too strong! For my main course, I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, my fries were stone cold - I sent it back, he brought my plate back and a separate side of fries, which were also cold. I was very disappointed, the sandwich was also soggy. Disgusting. The people who work there were also unfriendly and unhelpful. My friends had better luck than I did, they had the pizza, which came out hot and the calamari which they enjoyed, but both my husband and I hated our meals (we got the same thing) and barely touched it cause it was cold.

As someone with a wheat intolerance, I'm always excited to visit a place that has alternative breads and pastas. Ruggle's Green serves an AMAZING quinoa mac-n-cheese! Also, the gluten free carrot cake - WHAT? I said WHAT?? So good. I don't think I can describe how good the gf carrot cake is, you must go try it for yourself. If i were RG, I wouldn't even offer the regular one if the gluten free one is that delicious. I've never had a bad meal at Ruggle's and am happy there's one a short stroll from my work!

We went on the weekend and early enough to avoid the lines. You order at the front and sit down with your number and they bring your food around. I had the veggie nut burger which they make in-house unlike a lot of other establishments which just cook up a frozen boca. lame. It was delicious. Although they charged me for a side salad vs. not getting one of their sides. They should have a set price for side salads inclusive into the meal. oh well.

So I'm the dork who always brought her lunch from home during middle to high school. Heck, even during my college years - me and my brown sack. Because I'm economical (read: cheap) and sometimes it can be a pain in the arse to track down some decent vegan substenance. I recently found myself at a day-long prep course in the Town and Country area, without my usual sack lunch. Yes, sad but true, but I had forgotten to bring my pathetic collection of leftovers. So I decided to go ahead and forage for some lunch in the big bad shopping center/mall. A quick walk yielded nothing particularly appealing to me so I did remember Ruggles Green having one or two vegan-friendly things I could order. This was right before New Year's - so the holidays consumerism hadn't yet began its steady decrease - but holy geeze was this place crowded. AND LOUD. I was all kinds of shocked, but that "green" schtick is pretty effective marketing after all. Anyway, only TWO default vegan options on the menu. The hummus appetizer and the minestrone soup. If you're a vegetarian - you win, there's a burger, pizza, and possibly a couple of other things? I decided to try the soup because I happen to love minestrone soup. I placed my order, waited an eternity - which I didn't mind too much. I just noted that they dispense their orders as they are placed and not based on ease of fulfilling the order - because the soup is pre-made and situated right by the cashiers so it's scooped by them or stray kitchen staff and servers. The stuff was ridiculously piping hot - which I was quite pleased with. However, that's all that was redeeming about it. Okay, so it was obviously freshly prepared that day - consisting of very sparse smattering of mushrooms and veggies, chunky quinoa macaroni pasta. The broth was terrible! It was clear runny - like stuff without any real flavor. I get that this is supposed to be gluten-free and "healthy," but this minestrone soup was really quite awful and not fit to be termed "minestrone." It was more like "hey let's throw a very meager amount of vegetables into a pot with our macaroni and pawn it off as soup!" Which okay, you got me, that is pretty much what soup is, ha ha. I ate it all anyway, but probably one of the most disappointing restaurant soups I've ever had. No more Ruggles Green for me. No thank you!

Looking to settle for okay-not-bad-mad-decent food in City Centre? Well look no further, Ruggles Green has you covered. I think Ruggles quality has deteriorated over the years because every time I've come is slightly worse than the last. They've got a vast menu, and their central location is really nice for meeting up with people, so Ruggles is still useful as an agreeable place to hang out, but other than that, it's not the best food experience. The "spicy" (not really) shrimp and fish tacos are usually good and a pretty safe bet! Don't get the chicken tacos, they're kind of weird. The last time I had their calamari, it was pretty good!

I love this place! It is located in the heart of City Centre and there are many places to check out before or after dining here. I would describe the food to be "healthy" American - as in they offer gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegetarian options. I still have YET to try their desserts (but I will one day!!) because I am usually way too full, but I hear they are amazing. I really recommend the All natural turkey meatball panini! It is super cheesy and warm and great comfort food. Sandwiches and burgers come with a side of fries, sweet potato fries or quinoa salad. I also recommend the green veggie nut burger if you are feeling vegetarian. I'm always looking at other tables and everyone's food always looks so delicious and healthy, so I don't think you can go wrong ordering anything from the menu. They do have outdoor seating, which is nice if you enjoy the humid Houston weather, or want to bring your dog to dine with. Parking: plenty of free nearby parking garages

Was there with my family on August 10th and really enjoyed the vibe of the place. Most of us had the "healthy" burger. The meat was thick and pretty tasty. The plate came with sweet potato fries--which i love!!! Overall, a good place to grab a bite!

I've visited Ruggles a few times, and it's only been ok. If there is one thing you should try, I would go with the wood fired pizzas. I suggest the roasted chicken pizza or Dale's pizza. Both taste pretty good. But I've always had an issue with the service. The wait staff always seemed overwhelmed and I once waited 20 minutes for my bill to be delivered. Don't get me wrong...I felt the food was tasty and the prices were ok. But...I shouldn't have to put up with waiting that long.

Crowded and packed. Food is good but on the steep side in comparison to comparable restaurants with similar cuisine. Complaint...why do all the Ruggles Green feel like you are in the tropics? None of them turn up the air conditioning. I always feel damp and humid after eating there which is super uncomfortable

Too bad Could have been nicer but I don't think they have it anymore They have a great location but the food Does NOT taste good They could try harder but they don't Let me explain Biggest mistake. Food not hot enough That's easy to do Both my soup and my entree were Luke warm and I didn't chat over my food. Put down by wait and boom. Cold Second if I order two dishes. The soup being corn chowder and the entree crab and shrimp pasta. Please please tell me it's the soup poured over the pasta meaning that they will taste exactly the same. And again both both were Luke warm The other locations do better at consistency and quality of food. Hang out at city centre And try another restaurant instead.

I am in love with their Salmon Salad. No where else makes the salmon salad like they do. The price is a bit high for a salad, but I fill like you will get your money's worth. I love this place because every time I eat there, I am stuff, yet I feel healthy and not guilty with myself. I usually go after my work out and order the salmon salad with some a side of fruit salad. It is my favorite place to go to whenever I am in Houston.

Somehow I've managed to convince my coworkers to eat here with me last Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. 4 days out of the work week.... so of course I love this place. I actually prefer the City Centre location than the West Alabama one because there is actually room here! Granted it does get crazy busy during peak hours but it still has a considerably bigger dining area than the West Alabama location. Favorites include their calamari, turkey meatball panini, their veggie burger, salmon pasta, and every single one of their salads. I eat here so often that the people working there recognize my coworkers and I. Not a bad thing since last friday, someone told the wife of one of the co-owners that we were their "most frequent customers" and we got a free dessert. This one of our top picks for lunch during the work week.

I am still not a fan of much on their menu and the only dessert I like here is the White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Tried the fish tacos and they are surprisingly good. Much more edible than anything else I've tried. As for the wedge salad, I wasn't a fan. They opted for butter lettuce instead of the usual iceberg and it just didn't mesh well, as I found it to be a little too savory. The dressing was creamy and chunky, but the salad was nowhere near as good as Sullivan's. The pink velvet cake is much too sweet with icing in every other layer. It tastes like vanilla cake that was dyed a reddish-pink hue. I think overall, I prefer Ruggles Cafe Bakery on Rice. Still, I come back for convenience, ambience (love the patio) and service!

First time visiting today and will go back. The patio was awesome for the weather today in Houston which is rare. Little pricy but worth it for an all natural turkey burger. Will pay more if I know it's quality food going into my body! Sweet potatoes fries and bread pudding were outstanding. Best bread pudding I have ever had!!

OK, so I just returned to this City Center location last weekend, and I have to give my quick lunch 5 whole stars because the food was that good! I only had the Corn Chowder and "Hempanadas" but they were 5 star worthy items for sure. Additionally I took advantage of the complimentary condiment bar: house-made pickles, chipotle ketchup, and marinated garlic.... and I'm so happy I did because they were all sensational!!! I got little bowls of each to try, and somehow ended up eating all of them. They went perfectly with the "Hempanadas" and I even threw a couple of the marinated cloves of garlic into my chowder.... oh my goodness, that was sublime. The garlic is literally like softened butter, and is sweet and mild, with just the faintest hint of the garlic kick to make you smile and know what you ate. The "Hempanadas" have a lovely ground beef filling, like a pica dillo, with raisons and good spice - not spicy! But just perfectly seasoned. They are served with that amazing creamy cilantro dressing that I can drink up just on its own; the other dipping sauce was an orange color and had absolutely no flavor... at all! So just in case, ignore that one. I tried it, and then it got shoved to the side. It added nothing to me, but certainly didn't take away from the awesomeness of the rest of the food! who knows, maybe that was a bad batch... The Corn Chowder was recommended to me by the cashier when I asked him which soup should I try, and I wow I wish I knew what his name was because I would give him public praise right now!!!! The corn chowder is the best I've had, and much better than their tomato bisque - to me! It just hit the spot on a cold day, and paired with those meaty hempanadas, made for the perfect quick lunch.

I frequent this place because of the fact that they serve organic and local food. The food is delicious.Love the desserts, the veggie nut burger is delicious. Prices are fair, service is fast, staff is polite. The only things I don't really like is the size of the restaurant and finding parking. If you go on a busy day, it is often difficult to find a seat. I have had to wait for several minutes before finding a seat. But the staff is very good at cleaning the tables off quickly so its not completely terrible. I think that if there was an upstairs or additional space somewhere, that would make it perfect for me! It takes a lot of time to find a good parking space unless you get lucky most days. Though this is not something the restaurant can do much about. Overall, great restaurant, give it a try!

Two words...Charoletes Web! super yummy desert..trust me! Also They have great pizzas, salads, and pretty much everything...great place to go for a nicer casusal meal, and the prices are good. Plus I love the service kiosk thingy on the table that tells the server where you are seated, and you can press a button to let them know you are ready for your desert...they had me at high tech casual :)

The white chocolate bread pudding is very tasty and the menu items such as the sandwiches and pizzas are reasonably priced. The service is great-the manager and staff are very friendly. The outside dining area is nice and you can enjoy watching and listening to live music performed at the CityCentre Plaza from the patio.

I stopped here today for lunch and it was just average. I had the salmon salad...the four quarters of hard-boiled egg had a green nacre around the yolks and the dressing was definitely on the sweet side, something I personally don't care for. Lots of leafy greens, some crouton pieces that were distinctly on the stale side and a dusting of grated cheese completed the salad. That was it. The salmon portion was generous and very nicely cooked--but totally bland. I can't complain about this too much as I'd rather avoid salt where I can (and most places use far, far too much), but some herbal seasoning wouldn't go amiss here.

I came here after having an appetizer at Straits nearby. I wasn't full from my appetizer but also wasn't starving. So I came here and had the Ruggles Green Texas Goat Cheese Salad and Carrot Cake. The Ruggles Green Texas Goat Cheese Salad was very fresh and tasted quite good. It comes with greens, arugula, almonds, granny smith apples, and goat cheese. It's light and tasty. The carrot cake here was delicious. It came with vanilla bean ice cream and was just very good. The cake was moist, the frosting sweet but not too sweet. I really enjoyed this. We ordered this at the same time as the salad and I just wanted to eat the cake. The restaurant is nice. There's a lot of outdoor seating so it's perfect for weather like we have right now in October. I want to try other menu items and will be back!

We stopped by the place last Saturday as I read somewhere else that Ruggles Green is having their soft opening. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was a painting of a penguin playing hockey. With that out of the way, I scanned the menu on the top of the wall behind the counter until my neck is tired. Then I switched to the regular menu and jump straight to the pizza. I ordered the Dale's pizza, Steak and Shrimp pizza, and Ruggles Green Veggie Nut Burger while my friends waited for someone to leave the booth so we can steal the seats as no one wanted to sit at the table areas because all the cool kids sit at the booth. They gave me my number (42 - meaning of life) and I saw that we did get a nice booth facing the center of the CityCentre. They gave us 3 unique shape glass for our water and I also helped myself to some condiments (free pickles, roasted garlic, some sort of spicy ketchup)and utensils. The decorations is very pleasant with the high ceilings and each lights look like an upside down flower being dried for preservation. Our food came out in good time and they left our numbers at the table. I had to go back up and ask for 3 plates as 3 of us are sharing the 2 pizzas and the burger. Dale's pizza was OK but I couldn't taste the proscuitto ham and it was too salty. While the steak and shrimp pizza had decent amount of steak cubes and shrimps for topping, but it was a bit bland. I couldn't taste the garlic flavor in both pizzas so I had to help myself to some of those roasted garlic as toppings for my slices. But the pizzas itself is cooked great with the burnt flavor of the crust and it's not greasy at all. The vege nut burger was quite interesting as I bit into the patty, you get this Indian spice aroma flavor in your mouth, rather than nutty flavor as I thought it would have been. Again, I know this is a soft opening but they would still need to work on some of the foods prior their grand opening on August 26.

I really love all the food here, even if it is pricey, it's quality. Spinach artichoke dip is one of the best ever. Hempanadas are pretty good too, but sometimes they run out. They have a lot of unique salads but after you add chicken/shrimp they are like $15! I would definitely go to this place more if there was more seating.

SO GOOD! Like whoa! It's a little pricier than most establishments I would go to ($9 - $15 per entree) but it's well worth it. I got the veggie sourdough panini with the quinoa tabouli and it was unbelievably delicious! Like wow. The ample amount of goat cheese added so much flavor and it was so savory. I loved it. The tabouli was so light and refreshing. I didn't really know what tabouli was but the cashier was the best and gave me a sample to try which was really nice. They also have complimentary pickles slices which were pretty delicious! (They might be a bit too much for people who don't like vinegar) They try to use as many natural, organic, and local ingredients as possible which makes the price understandable and I love that mission. Their pizza looked amazing and I hope I can make it back soon to try that as well as other items on their menu. Yum yum yum! Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

i came here for dessert after having lunch at another place in the Towne Center. I've gone many times to the Ruggles in Rice Village. This was my first time at The Green Dessert was great. i had the charlotte's web. A lot of desset. Two people can eat it. I'm giving 4 stars because my friends Bread Pudding was slightly burned on top. She loved it, but i noticed that one flaw. I plan on going back for lunch or dinner.

Crowded like a mofo for lunch today! But that was ok until I got stopped by the one of the employees from saving a table until I've ordered. He was nice bout it but still. The crowd died down by 1pm and the line was down to 1-2 groups by the time we left. I had the avocado salad with shrimp and squid (one of the special of the day) and it was my fault for not asking how it was prepared. Handful of mixed greens (literally a handful...everyone laughed at my portions and it was embarrassing). They could have put double the amount of leafy greens or a piece of toast or something to look like the plate was worth $13. The shrimp and squid was also prepared unpleasantly drenched in mayonnaise type dressing and placed on top of unsliced half avocado. The mayonnaise like shrimp/squid concoction spills over the avocado onto the small amount of leafy greens. I can't tell if the shrimp and squid was frozen but it probably was frozen and used the mayonnaise-like dressing to cover it up. I'm just going to say it....WHAT A WEAK SPECIAL...more like mayonnaise special Turkey, grilled chicken, and buffalo burgers were nothing special. Thin layer of cheese and decent veggie toppings on all but the wheat bun was nothing to rave about. Saw the fish tacos that someone was eating and looked a lot better than my entire tables worth of food.

Apparently this is Houston's very first "green" restaurant. Their website says that it's Texas's only 4 star green restaurant. From the setup of the Restaurant to the actual food itself, I'm going to just have to take their word for it because I didn't notice anything "green" about it. I found it strange that upon entry that there was no one to greet you. Turns out that this is not a full service restaurant. You order from the counter that is hidden from view and fill your own drinks. The cashier wasn't very well trained. This guy took forever just to enter in our order, take payment and hand over a ticket. There was no one else in line. I realized that it was foolish of me to pay for a drink when the cups were out in the open next to the soda fountain because the cashier never would have noticed. Also, there's some strange electric ticket holder on every table. To me, it seemed rather wasteful for a green restaurant to have an unnecessary electric device. OK, so this place was not at all what I was expecting... and then I got my food. I ordered the fish tacos, which everyone says are the best around. I've had plenty of fish tacos, most of them have been mediocre at best, so I wasn't expecting a whole lot. Usually when you get fish tacos on corn tortillas, the tortillas are doubled down. They didn't double the tortillas down, but they gave me two per taco. The Tilapia filets were so huge that it took two corn tortillas side by side to lay underneath. I had never seen fish tacos so huge or served they way they do. The Tilapia was well cooked and tasted great but the presentation was all wrong. There was no way I could eat all that food the way it was served to me! Ruggles Green was such a bizarre experience that I had to yelp about it because to me, it's clear that Ruggles Green is all hype.

I wasn't really hungry so I decided to get the kids meal chicken tenders, that was probably the worst chicken tenders I've ever tasted! I didn't know chicken could taste so rubbery, I was truly disappointed since Ruggles usually has pretty good food, but I will definitely stay away from those chicken tenders.

I eat here pretty often due to my high organic diet and I absolutely love the food here, especially the salads. This location is great for outdoor seating, but inside is like a noisy cafeteria that is best avoided around lunch time and typical dinner time. If you are able to eat lunch or dinner later/earlier, this is your best bet to have a better dining experience. When the restuarant first opened, it smelled very clean, but over the past year, it has developed a very awkward smell from the cleaning solutions they use. I would skip the desserts as they taste like the cooler they have been sitting in, but the rest of the menu, especially the daily specials is worth the visit! It is a bit pricey for what you get, but there aren't very many organic restaurant options in town.

I fear gluten-free. Nobody likes bland healthy food ! But to my surprise the food wasn't that horrible. The fish tacos could've come with regular tortillas, like flour tortillas, but it was that disgusting corn tortilla that breaks and tears as you try to pick it up. I had the "Jenny's dipping salad", which was a misnomer.. "Jenny's veggie plate with dipping sauces" would have been more accurate. It was basically a big plate of 5 veggies sectioned out (asparagus, portobello mushrm, onions, cooked roma tomatoes, and spinach) and 3 separate dressings on the side. It was aight. Basically a VEGGIE Plate, like i said. We sat outside under their umbrellas. After 7:30pm it actually got nice 'n cool.

This is the first time I've actually eaten at Ruggles, and by my experience, I'm was not let down. The atmosphere was welcoming, it fit the theme of the City Centre, and the food was amazing! On this occasion, I decided to get the Buffalo Burger with natural cut fries. The burger was cooked perfectly, and the greens helped well in accenting the flavor of the meat. The fries could have been seasoned a little bit better, but with it being fries, there's only so much you can do. The service was also decent and the food came out in a timely matter. Unfortunately I didn't get to try the mac & cheese, which is what people highly suggest, but all in all, this is a great place for lunch or dinner!

My husband and I love this place. We came here the first time for his birthday and we split this smoked chicken sandwich. It was really tasty but it was also a mess. My brother and sister in law got burgers and a pizza which they said was really good. For dessert we got the white chocolate bread pudding - OMG. I read other reviews that said it was too sweet - well it is sweet, but I wasn't overwhelmed by it. We all thought it was delicious and would definitely get it again. We went back a second time and my husband had the Kobe beef burger and I had the southwest chicken quinoa pasta thing, and we got an appetizer of the hempenadas. It was all really good, though I personally think the Kobe beef thing is a way to charge 5-10 dollars more for a burger. I think their ordering process is really efficient, I've never waited in super long lines, and I like the electronic number gizmo. All in all we are fans!

When entering this restaurant, it looks clean and usually pretty busy as far as I've seen. It's in a good location to view the open area that has bands and children playing in the grass and you can occasionally seen tents with people selling their homemade goods underneath them. Sit outside and relax, have a beer why dontcha? There are artist paintings on the wall, seeming over priced but available to buy if you choose. It's quite tight inside and can be tight outside depending on if it's a holiday week or maybe some kind of activities going on outside. I ordered the buffalo burger. They asked what I wanted on it so I asked for my usual pickle, lettuce, tomato and mayo. I got a choice of fries between sweet potato and regular. I took my number and sat down with friends. One friend ordered a panini. She thought it was good. I can't remember which one it was so I won't comment any further on that. Once you get your number or pager, you walk off to the side and choose a drink. For some reason, you have to ask for a top to your cup. They aren't sitting out for you. If you don't get a top, be prepared to accidentally squeeze your tea out of the glass or spill it when trying to open the door to get outside with a tray of napkins and whatnot. My burger was brought to me and it looked like a good size. I'm quite a burger snob but I always go into biting the burg with optimism. It was juicy but it had this off flavor. I've had cow and bison burgers. I've also had buffalo burgers. This particular burger didn't have ANY seasoning in it that I could taste and it was quite gamey. It was so gamey that it was hard to get past it. I took another bite in hopes it was just that one bite and perhaps the seasoning just didn't make it to that side of the burger. Wrong. Still no seasoning. I was as if I went out to kill a buffalo, ground the meat and slap it into a pan to cook. Scratch that. It didn't taste that fresh. I've had fresh, organic, grass fed beef from farms and it was incredible. This was just off. I'm fine with gamey flavor but when a restaurant doesn't even add seasoning, it just ruins the burger. I went back inside to look for some kind of sauce to put on it. Nothing was available. I didn't think of it at the time but I should have asked for some BBQ sauce or something. Anything. I went back again and this time my friend ordered a salad and she said it wasn't anything special. So with these two happenings. I doubt I will go back unless I can find something no restaurant could ever screw up. Perhaps a dessert or a pesto sandwich. I don't even know what else they have because I don't care to go back. bah! Convenience in location can sometimes take over when you're starving. if you must east or just want to chow while watching a live show in the area or whatever, head over to a cafe for something small or eat before you get over there.

Came here for a friend's birthday dinner. It was really busy but our food came out at decent times. I ordered the buffalo burger and it was good. for $14 I guess that was fair. I would come back again to try something else. They're counter style service is pretty cool also. You order at the front, they give u a ticket thing, and you plug it in on the machine thing at the table, and they deliver the food to you, and bam food served. I thought that was a really cool idea.

Man, I love this place. Pros: - Everything is so good. The quinoa mac&cheese is just as good as the one on W. Alabama. One of my favorites are the buffalo burger which is cooked to perfection. Their sweet potato fries are probably the best I've ever had! They have just the right amount of salt on them and you could barely tell the difference between these fries and regular fries. - I like how there are several things made in house such as their pickles and chipotle ketchup. - Every. Single. Dessert. on the menu just sounds so tantalizing. It's so hard to choose just one! And they're all as amazing as they look. My top pick so far is the pink velvet cake. And all the desserts come with dark chocolate and vanilla ice cream. YUM! :) - This place makes me feel just a bit better about eating out just because everything is organic here (except for the fountain drinks, probably). Sure, it could just be a claim, and yeah I know "just because it's organic, doesn't mean it's good for you." But hey. Ignorance is bliss. And it applies to me here, and I'm willing to get sucked in by the hype for this place. It's just too good! Cons: - It makes me sad to say that their prices are the reason why I can't eat here everyday. :[ I understand it's because everything is local and whatnot, but still. I'd still gladly come back here whenever I'm in CityCentre!

Rubble green was good choice for my first time being here. The pasta was good. Choice was plenty and the service was prompt. After you order from the counter, at lest they bring you the food and you do not have to get up. Good value.

Great place for any occasion. Prices can be offputting, but you get what you pay for, and there has not been a single time where my wife and I did not enjoy it. Try the Texas Goat Cheese Salad or the Carrot Cake and you will not be disappointed. It can be a little loud inside, but there is always patio seating outside.

Ruggles Green is one of my favorite places in City Centre. The food is always fresh, the desserts are fantastic, the staff is friendly, and there's plenty of seating outside or in. The veggie sourdough panini is great - full of grown-up flavors with a great combo of veggies and hummus. The veggie burger is another pleaser that will satisfy even non-vegetarians. With any sandwich, I always opt for the crispy sweet potato fries. The desserts are great for sharing or eating whole if you come just for the final course. The best thing I've had was Charlotte's Web: a decadent layering of chocolate cake, espresso mousse, whipped cream, and heath bar crumbs. The pink velvet has great cake and cream cheese frosting, but the fruit filling tasted like store-bought jelly. All in all, consistently fresh meals and a casual location make this a go-to place for me!

Ruggles Green is a perfect addition to the lively area of City Centre in the Memorial area of Houston. This restaurant has a very warm, organic, and vibrant feel to it; a perfect place to go to for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The deserts here are top-notch and they have an array of selections to choose from as well. I'm a huge fan and a sucker for deserts so I'm easily impressed, but with that said, I still pay attention to the quality and execution of the dishes. Here's how I rate what I've tried: Domino Cake - 4/5 Ruggles Green Carrot Cake - 3.5/5 Ruggles Famous White Chocolate Bread Pudding - 4.5/5 As for the regular menu items, I haven't tried any besides the fish tacos and I thought it was enjoyable as well. The fish tacos I would say are about 3/5, satisfyingly good. A great place to go with your family and friends that sits in the heart of City Centre. A soothing and upscale ambiance makes Ruggles Green a new favorite go-to place in Houston!

I love this place and this place really drains me of my money, lol! It is very vegetarian friendly and it happens to be right across Anthropologie. I love sitting outside and people watch while I am eating. Their homemade nutburger is really good and almost everything that can be made vegetarian is really tasty. The salads are really good too. My only complaint is that they are a bit on the expensive side and take out service is poor. They don't know how to box up things, regularly messed up my order and the wait for take out is longer than it ought to be. Minus one star for that.

Ruggles Green is always delicious! I went to the location on Kirby a few times before the one in Citycentre opened up, but I like the Citycentre location much more. There is more parking since there is a parking garage, and the outdoor seating is nice on good days. Also, it doesn't feel as crowded and the tables do not seem to be pushed up right next to each other. The Hummus is good to start, and it comes with a delicious warm flatbread. Also the five cheese pizza is really good. The crust is perfect, and it's not greasy, but it has amazing flavor. Their salads are pretty good also.

While I am a regular at Ruggles Green, it is because of the patio and kid friendly citycentre Friday nights more so than the food itself. The food is ok...bland at times and certainly over priced. For my family of 3 to eat it is always $80. (That's two adult entrees, one child's meal and two beers) If you do not have kids I wouldn't dine here. It is over run with families and small children.

I started out with the french onion soup, which lacked richness and depth of flavor. Given all the reviews for the white chocolate bread pudding, I wanted to make sure to try it. Honestly, it didn't live up to the hype - since I found it rather lackluster. The joint was hopping on a Saturday night and pretty noisy for conversation. They did bring out our food pretty quickly. With a group it makes for easy ordering since everyone can order and pay individually at the counter. I did appreciate all the alternative food options they have to be mindful of people on special diets. It's not a bad place; just not one I'd be running back to again.

My boyfriend recently tried this for lunch one day and it was really good. I had heard it was good, but not worth a long wait and I have to sorta of disagree. I had the grilled chicken sandwich which was awesome, and my bf thought it was one of the best he had ever tasted. He got the macaroni and cheese with quinoa which was amazing as well. It is a organic restaurant but you do not really taste that in your meal. It has a relaxed atmosphere especially the one at city center on the patio. It is a tad pricey especially for lunch and they wanted to upcharge a salad $12 just to add ahi tuna.

We love any evening spent at Ruggles. The food is always delicious. The salad with the goat cheese drizzled with honey is my favorite. I also love to spicy fish tacos. They are my favorite fish tacos around. Always check the specials. They are always changing. My kids love the hempanadas. Wonderful little pockets stuffed with ground beef and raisins.

Today was the second time I've ever eaten here. It will be my last. I ordered the Spicy shrimp pasta. It was the most mediocre pasta dish I've ever eaten. It wasn't even close to being spicy. It was lukewarm like it had been sitting in the heat window for a while. The shrimp was poorly prepared and looked cheap. The sauce was very bland. I feel like calling the cops to report a robbery because I feel Ruggles stole $15 from me today. That pasta dish is worth $8 at best. I'm shocked that so many people like to eat here. I guess they think it's healthy because the word 'organic' is plastered everywhere. Ruggles knows this so they can grossly overcharge people for mediocre food. Good for them. I guess.

Love this place. A little taste of California in Texas. This place is perfect for those trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle while wanting to eat out and socialize. I should have asked for a caloric menu (and I can't seem to find one online), but I'm pretty sure there's quite a few options that can be had for less than 500-600 calories. When is the rest of the country going to add calorie counts to their menus? I guess we all can't be awesome Californians. I went with the Chicken Curry Salad. The Chicken was a bit dry, but the salad was light and delicious. 4 stars b/c it's a bit expensive for a salad.

It's safe to say that I love Ruggles and all it its offshoots, even the Greens where you'll pay 2 - 3 bucks more, so it makes sense that I'd write a little something on this location. This place has only been open since August and it already has 42 reviews. Rather than repeat what everyone has said, I'll focus on what sets this place apart from the others. If you are at all familiar with Ruggles Green on W. Alabama or the Ruggles Bakery in the Village, then you know that if it's crowded, you will be standing in line the middle of the restaurant before you get to place your order. Not only is this kind of awkward for patrons who might be at butt-level with those in line, but it can be kind of hazardous since there are people/servers constantly moving around with food laden trays. It's an accident waiting to happen, if it hasn't already. This particular location played it smart by separating the ordering counter from the restaurant area, thus avoiding any future inadvertent cheeky action. As with the other Greens location, your order is brought out to you, as opposed to going up to the food counter as in the Ruggles Bakery. There are floor to ceiling windows on three sides of the restaurant, providing plenty of light during the daytime. Some of the wall art is a bit questionable, in my opinion, but to each their own. There's one that sort of reminds me of El Condorito. Plenty of seating is available inside but perhaps one of their best features is the outside patio area - it is HUGE! There are probably about 10 to 15 tables, some with umbrellas, some without. When the weather is perfect, expect this area to be packed - ideal for sipping some wine and enjoying the sun. Word to the wise: because this is in City Center, expect there to be more families, many, many more families, especially on the weekends OH, and there are no greedy birds lurking around to steal your food when you aren't looking...at least not yet.

This place has been somewhere I wanted to try for a while. While I have not tried every place to eat in City Center yet I have tried alot of them. Some I hate and some I love. This goes down in my book as one that I love. Nice location for people watching outside on the patio. Its a nicely decorated, Upscale Casual order and sit with gourmet organic foods. You can still get a beer or wine and they stay open til 11pm on weekend. We tried the Ruggles house salad with grilled chicken, added goat cheese and it was tasty. I have an obsession with goat cheese. Any place that serves it right gets a big Yea buddy in my book. The pizzas caught my eye as soon as we entered so we got a Greek which was fresh and tasty as well. Ohhhh did I see sooo many good things being served to tables around us. I am a food gawker and if I see something good I might stare and then stare some more and I might even ask what you ordered. This place had some dishes that I need to go back and check out. Fish tacos, Soups (french onion looked divine), Kabob and more desserts. I loved the tea and drink selection. They serve a variety of drinks and beers in the bottle. They even had a mini bar set-up outside facing the green area in city center. I can NOT WAIT for cooler weather and dining Al Fresco. Come on 85!!! Only Meh was the pink Velvet cake, but I can assure you there are many other dessert options to choose from. I will check out the bread pudding next time. Or the Hemp Brownies. I love a good brownie. It makes me weak in the knees.

This one is better than the one on Alabama. Parking is far better and frankly the service and food are better here. I think the one on Alabama is too busy and that's why but here everyone is helpful and the food is consistent. Alabama is not. My favorites are the pizza and salads. I want to try the desserts one day but I'm always full!

Walked up and the area was packed. Parked a few blocks away. I was expecting a long line, long wait, and limited tables. We ordered in five minutes, received food as a party of 3 promptly and there were plenty of tables indoors since everyone was outside on the lawn listening to live music. We had hempanadas*, fish tacos, crab and shrimp pasta, white chocolate bread pudding and brownie. Coffee too. All were good and cleared off table in no time. All in all a good experience. I would come back.

I've been to Ruggles Green before and enjoy the ambiance and the food each time I come. I'm a big fan of the City Centre. I came here with my boyfriend, my sister, and her boyfriend last night for a casual birthday dinner. I ordered the Mac and Cheese and my boyfriend the BBQ Hawaiian pizza. The Mac and cheese is good but dry, definitely not my favorite, mostly being a Parmesan cheese. The pizza however was really good, spicy and sweet at the same time! Also a good size! I'd recommend the Caesar salad and the BBQ Hawaiian pizza!

I'm usually here for a quick snack with a friend, and always get the same thing. A Fire Roasted Tomato Basil Bowl of soup. It's stuffed with mozzerella on the bottom, and a flaky crust (kind of like pot pie crust) on top. I think the only thing healthy about it is the tomato! But its so yummy. It was especially yummy on this random May cold front (where my bf and I sat outside!) He ordered the All Natural Beef Burger with swiss cheese...and in my opinion it was a miss :/. I like the entire organic and healthy concept...but it was rather dry and...er...dry. I wasn't really impressed with it. The Sweet Potato fries were great though! I love the interior of the place, but on a beautiful day I'd sit outside if there's space. The location of this place is perfect within City Centre. When you sit outside it gives you plenty of space to people watch on a busy day. Again...the Bathrooms...are designed SOOO COOL! I know i rave about places with cool bathrooms, but I like it when places make sure every detail isn't overlooked. Pros: On a great day, this place makes the perfect outdoor lunch date. Cons: Organic & Healthy shouldn't feel like i'm munching on cardboard...

Mmm...I'm still dreaming about the moist pink velvet cake that is flavored with white chocolate and strawberries and comes with a scoop of house made vanilla ice cream topped with a chocolate tuile. It is hands down one of my favorite cakes that I've had anywhere. The food here is fresh but on the pricey side. I've had the minestrone soup and wood-fired quinoa mac & cheese at this location. The soup wasn't what I was expected as it came with a clear both instead of the traditional red color from stewed tomatoes. The mac & cheese was a bit bland and could have benefited from the addition of garlic and more slivers of basil. Once I grounded up some fresh pepper, the flavor was immediately improved. The menu also described it as being crispy and topped with breadcrumbs but they were both lacking in the dish. My friends and I came here about 6:30 PM on a weeknight and we were surprised at how packed the restaurant was already though it may be because of the holiday season. While this CityCentre location is larger than the original in Upper Kirby, there were far too many tables and chairs crammed into the space. It was extremely difficult to navigate to the ordering counter and fountain drink area. I'm willing to return when the weather becomes nicer to take advantage of their prime outdoor seating. Great people watching spot.

All I have to say is YUM! My favorite dish by far is the Ruggles Green Texas Goat Cheese salad. I usually add chicken to it, but it's still yummy without. The melted goat cheese with the slivered almonds is like a party in your mouth! The butternut squash side dish is rich and delicious. Very filling! The desserts are huge.. please share. We made the mistake of ordering our own desserts (1 each) and I was miserably full, lol. The white chocolate bread pudding is to-die for! Only reason I rate it 4 stars is that it is a bit overpriced. I ordered salad, tea and added chicken to my salad and nearly spent $20 - for lunch.

I feel like this place should have a rating between 3 and 4 stars, but I guess I'm too much of a gimp to figure out how to do that. I liked it, but I'm not sure I am in a huge hurry to go back, besides the fact that I like to go to places more than once when I don't get an amazing first impression. I love the location of this Ruggles, CityCentre is so nice and trendy. I took my boyfriend there for his bday dinner on accident. We were supposed to go to YardHouse, but it was too long of a wait and we had a Cirque show to catch. We settled on Ruggles and were intrigued by the "organic" menu. I'm not one to really be able to tell the diff between organic and just regular food. He got the shrimp tacos and I got the buffalo burger. We also ordered the spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer. The dip was great! So chunky and full of veggies. I will definitely get it again when I go back. Now the burger, I'll move on to something else next time I visit. It wasn't bad, just had better before. The french fries were very good though, so there's that. My dude got the fish tacos and they were good, but I hate to say BerryHill's are better. :( I did love the homemade pickles! Like I said CityCentre is great and I'm sure there are better things on the menu that I'll try out next time.

I have eaten at Ruggles Green in the City Center area several times and have never been disappointed. Since I am a vegan, food choices are usually limited or mundane, however, at Ruggles Green, I find a few very pleasing dishes to choose. I usually stick with the vegetarian nut burger which is easily made vegan and have a side order of sweet potato fries. On Aug. 27, 2013 I tried a salad with grilled onions, grilled portebello mushroom, grilled tomatoes and asparagus. All were delicious. I also discovered they now have vegan and gluten free desserts and I had a slice of vegan chocolate cake. It was incredible and my non-vegan friends were in disbelief that it was vegan. I will be visiting there more often now that they can satisfy my nutritional needs and satisfy my insatiable sweet tooth. The decor, location and views are also very pleasing and relaxing. I also love the staff and waiters; they are so friendly, accommodating and efficient.

Ruggles Green is an awesome concept! I get to have a bite and the most awesome white chocolate bread pudding. Best of both worlds. The hempenadas and chicken sandwich is a sure thing. The fish tacos are plentiful and delicious. The buffalo burger is moist and not greasy. This location has a nice outdoor area for people watching.

A little disappointing. Ordered the Kobe burger that came over-cooked, and a little cool. I appreciated the mixed greens on the burger, but it was okay at best. To top it off I spent $18 for that and a drink, I was left scratching my head after i left. I think this place is pry worth another shot as everything else seemed to look pretty good. We shall see.

Good food. Outside seating is nice. Service is pretty quick. You go inside & order & pick up inside to take to your outside table. Dogs can join you on their leash of course. Sandwiches & salad great. Nice to sit outside & people watch.

This is a fantastic location in city centre where you can ATTEMPT to find a spot to enjoy the view, people watch and have a glass of wine or let your kids run amuck in the grassy area. The logisitics in the evening high peak times need a little tweaking, long unorganized lines, so loud you cant hear when your to go order is ready, thankfully you get buzzed if you are dining in. The pizza is delicious, so is the southwestern pasta with plantains and chicken. I did not like the kids chicken fingers, over cooked, dry and crispy. For the premium price you pay at least you are getting organic food.

Nice atmosphere. Especially liked the green space out front. Food was just average at best. Ingredients were fresh, but everything was underseasoned. And, I don't mean not enough salt. I mean the proper spices and flavors. In fact, the butternut squash pasta was way too salty without much of any other taste. Fish tacos were bland and dry - no seasoning on the fish - even with the sauce that we were supposed to pour on. Cuban pork sandwhich basically had no seasoning either. It was just a few thin slices of pork in between some bread. Again, bland. The Greek pizza was soggy all the way through and bland except for the salty olives. The sweet potato fries were yummy, though.

I've only been to Ruggles Green for the dessert and if you love dessert, you must try the white chocolate bread pudding! The tres leches is also good, but can sometimes be hard to finish because it's so huge and sweet. The outdoor seating is an awesome place to sit and people watch...assuming it's not a hot humid Houston evening.

I really like this place- food is good and reasonably priced, and the staff is always friendly. The first time I went I had the buffalo burger with sweet potato fries- very tasty. The second time my fiance and I split the buffalo burger and the quinoa mac and cheese. The burger was good again, but the mac and cheese was really, really awesome. We also had a bottle of their Riesling- reasonably priced but drier than I like, so I liked our pinot grigio better. It's a great place to people watch before heading to a movie at SMG

I'm upgrading to 4 stars, as I was pretty delighted by the spicy fish tacos. It's one of the cheaper items on the menu, and it was the bomb! It comes with a side of tabasco sauce, that really hits the spot.

So much promise, but ultimately falls horribly short. I've eaten at the Ruggles Green on Alabama and was excited to hear that Ruggles was going to open a store closer to my home. While the food is great, the consistently rude service and dysfunctional store level operations render this restaurant a 'must avoid' location.

words such as organic, wild-caught, ALL natural... appear ALL over the menu. and while these words tend to also come with some ambiguity, i have no idea what the crap hydroponic butter iceburg lettuce is! the menu is already extensive enough to navigate through much less decipher frou frou words. either way, we didn't come here b/c we're super healthy and green human beings who strive to eat organic whenever possible- we just wanted to check this place out. i'd suggest giving the menu a look-see before stopping in since orders are placed at the counter where there's not a lot of room to stand around and wonder which of the 15 ($10) burgers/sandwiches you feel like eating tonight. i went with the spicy fish tacos. it had neither organic, wild-caught, or all natural in its description- though it DID say "micro greens", which i have no idea what that means either. i thought they were decent at best. truly, they were cabbage tacos, served on a single corn tortilla and a hint of fish. single corn tortilla means eat fast before whatever juices soak through and render the tortilla useless as everything breaks through. my BFF had the "naturewell natural beef burger". it wasn't too bad either, but didn't amaze us by any means. he found it too mushy, as in to say the whole wheat bun and patty blended so well together that nothing stood out. i found it hard to believe it was so light considering its appearance. it looks to be a hefty burger, but when you hold it, it's extremely lightweight. PINK velvet cake... yes. it's not bad folks. pretty friggin good actually. a non-traditional spin on your traditional red velvet cake. the texture is a little bit lighter as the frosting wasn't heavy on cream cheese flavor. a hint of white chocolate added in the mix made it a whole new thing. and that's generally what i love ruggles for- the desserts. (though i should say, a pink cake is the complete opposite of natural) notes: -the Sweet Potato Fries were suhhhweet! (i'm always partial to SPF) -organic ketchup, no so suhhhweet and actually rather watery. -the ambiance/decor was modern and unique, almost magical. sigh with me... *aaaah* -community sink area, which may be a little weird if you just wanted to see if you had pink cake stuck in your teeth. -dyson hand dryers. yes, that is why you're paying $8 for your hummus and $11 for your salad. eat up, wash your hands, dry them paper free and go about your merry way.

Went on a Saturday night, if I remember correctly. The dining experience is way more casual than I expected but the food was awesome. You can definitely taste the freshness of it all. We ordered the pizza and a few glasses of wine. I want to return to try the pink velvet cake. the counter people who took our order were friendly and patient, considering the fact that this was our first visit and had to look over the menu a bit. I wanted to sit on the patio which overlooks the green area in CityCentre but because it was late on a Saturday night, it was packed with people who had looked as if they had finished eating and were just there. Still enjoyed myself inside though. I'll definitely be back to try more items from the menu... and that pink velvet cake.

The whole wheat bun on my burger was dry and the meat so-so. My buddy got the quinoa mac and cheese which was uh...interesting. Not much cheese flavor, it was more like a light cheese dressing tossed onto the pasta. I understand that organic foods are more expensive but this place made me wonder if the price was inversely related to taste. Beautiful interior, nice and new. I did like sitting outside and watching the weird people over at Straits.

Good food here and nice ambiance. My only real complaint was that they were out of the Kobe beef and buffalo meat (though I did go pretty late), and some how those were my first two choices of meat to go on the burger I was craving. Hadn't had either meat before but I was really looking forward to that. Needless to say, I would go back to try one of those burgers.

The atmosphere on the Tuesday night was different from my other experiences at Ruggles off West Alabama, which resembles a greenery and a good lunch spot. The one had an order/bar area and normal dining area. There were nice touches like tulip shaped lamps hanging over tables and original looking art. Mellow music was played by the guy in a corner. The manager went by every table asking guests how they were doing and the waiters were efficient. The Texas Goat Cheese Salad is the best. The Goat cheese is warm and covered with almonds. The dressing is sun dried tomato vinaigrette, the salad mix is of the Spring Mix variety, and it's topped with thin Granny Smith Apple slices. I've had the Honey Fried Goat Cheese Salad and it does not compare...too sweet tasting. I wouldn't recommend the Fish Tacos. It's coated with dry batter and spicy. The Pink Red Velvet cake comes with a plastic cup of vanilla ice cream (Breyer's), a chocolate lace, and a few pieces of fruit. The cake tastes like Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake ice cream. Carrot cake is delicious and classic, nothing to wow about, but good.

Got a bite to eat on Friday night. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly even though they were very busy. I got the house salad or something like that and it was pretty good but not amazing. The pepperoni pizza was good as well as the buffalo burger. Tres leches cake was pretty good and serving was huge. I will go back but to the Upper Kirby location.

I went to Ruggles for the first time, because I wanted to try something different for lunch. The City Center location was upbeat, but relaxing. I sat outside by the lawn. I ordered the tomato basil soup which had mozzarella cheese inside topped with a puff pastry shell. It was excellent. I also got the bread pudding for dessert. Now I am not a bread pudding fan, but I heard so much about it that I decided to give it a try. O.M.G. It made me want to go back in the kitchen and slap the cook it was so good. I thought and talked about it all day! Will probably be back...uuum tomorrow! :)

A unique menu and interesting specials make for great meals here. Sometimes the specials can be pricey for what you can get, but they are still interesting: antelope ravioli, anyone? It can also be a little noisy at times but the option to sit out on the patio and watch all of the families playing on the green at the end of the day with a nice meal is a great way to unwind.

Great place for meal or dessert. Great outdoor seating area as well where the kids can run around on the green while Mom and Dad relax. This location's food isn't quite as consistent as the Alabama location's, but the parking and seating are better by a long shot. Fish tacos and burgers are great - if not overcooked. Overcooking especially happens on kid's burgers, but we just send 'em back. Love the desserts and salads as well. Also appreciate the organic and locally sourced ingredients, which is why we visit this restaurant more than any other.

So I came to this place for a late lunch and it was alright. The food was like ordinary american food but expensive. It felt like a luby's because you don't have a waiter and you have to order at the cashier. I visited this place once and never went back. Wasn't impressed.

I got the southwest chicken pasta, mainly because I wanted to try the quinoa pasta. The pasta was great, the dish in general just ok. But I also ordered the hempenadas and they were AMAZING! My friend got the veggie burger and said it's the best she's ever had (and she gets them a lot). She also ordered the tres leche which I'm normally not a fan of but this was really good. My other friend ordered the greek pizza and said it was good and the white chocolate bread pudding. Unfortunately she had the desert come at the same time as her meal (her choice), it was served with ice cream and we were sitting outside. It was still good but would of probably been better had it been "fresh" and less mussy. The portions in general were quite large. I had one and a half hempenadas and after I was full to the brim with my pasta it looked like I hadn't eaten anything. It was a little pricey for the style of resturant it is and we waited awhile to work our way thru the line (but it was Friday night at City Centre). Overall we are huge fans.

My sister & I have been planning to go here for a little while. I'm glad we finally did. We live right by City Centre but I'm always iffy about going anywhere to eat in that area since it's so pricey. I ordered the RG Veggie Nut Burger... not because I'm trying to eat light or am a vegetarian (which the lady thought was the reason why my sister ordered it), but because it was the cheapest thing on the menu that kinda fit was I was looking for & that sounded good. The burger was awesome, though. Maybe when I have more money to spend, I can order & try out other things on the menu without feeling broke. I was just really, really pleasantly surprised by how quickly our food was served to our table. After my sister, her friend & I all placed our orders, got our drinks & picked our table, I was expecting to wait about 10 minutes before our food would arrive, especially given how busy it was at the time, but much to my surprise (& gratitude), our food was already being served to us about 3 minutes after we placed our orders, & it felt like only a minute or less after having sat down. Faster than fast food! & the food wasn't crappy at all! When I kept seeing people at the tables around us getting THEIR orders, I had my eye on things I definitely would wanna order for future visits, but unfortunately didn't know the names of. & now that I've seen on another review that they've got White Chocolate Bread Pudding (white chocolate & bread pudding are 2 of my top vices), I will find any excuse that I can to go back there as soon as I possibly can. I'll save the rest of the menu for when I have more money to spend, though.

During peak lunch hours, it was almost impossible for me to find a table to sit with my friends. After standing off to the side for 10 minutes, a table finally opened up and I rushed to claim this spot. It was an adventure just finding a spot and now off to order food. I ordered the Cuban pork sandwich with sweet potato fries, which was delicious with a huge portion. Definitely yummy food!

The food here is delicious! You can't go wrong with having so much variety here. The corn chowder is yummy. All has been great so far except for the spaghetti and turkey meatballs. The meatballs were dry and not so tasty. Their desserts are awesome too!

I love this place! It is nice to see a company pay attention to the environment for once. The food is great here, and very affordable considering how much organic food they offer. This location is very nice inside and out. It is a great place to enjoy a nice day when we get them in Houston. I like everything I get here, I love their veggie sandwich and their burgers!

VERY LOUD WITH AVERAGE FOOD - The food was okay, but not spectacular. And certainly not worth the expense. And while the decor is attractive, all of the metal surfaces make for an extremely loud dining experience. And for those prices, I prefer table service. Having to traipse back and forth to get your food, drinks, and silverware was obnoxious.

I dined at at the City Centre locale today (6/6/15) and abosutely loved my experience up until the patio bartender became a little too "comfortable" in my opinion. My sister and I showed up for the Texas Festival that was being held with her two dogs and decided to eat on the patio. We were there for a few hours (approx, 3-6:45pm) and had the roasted chicken sandwich and the spicy fish tacos at which were both wonderful. We had a wonderful time on the patio and left three drinks later. Spending as much time as we did sitting outside, I was constantly checking to make sure there were other multiple tables available for seating while we were there- and there was. Having been a server and bartender with Landry's Corp and some other establishments in the past, I wanted to make sure that we were not impeding business. My sister and I had already agreed to relax for a few drinks and tip the bartender heavily for holding the table. Nadir, who I assume is the manager, was absolutely wonderful. He checked on us more than the bartender (who was also serving as the outside server- if you could even call him that), and was even nice enough to bring water out to my sister's dogs and check on us regularly (which the patio bartender/server was not doing). Nadir really was phenomenal, made our experience, and is the reason we will be frequent regulars. However, the bartender was completely disrespectful. He took our orders and did everything as he should (minimally) up until he returned when we were on our last beers (the third for each of us- three hours later). He approached our table and asked us "if were going to hang out drinking all day?" and proceeded to ask us to "go to the Yard House, take a Ruggles plastic cup with us, order a Patron shot, pour it into the plastic cup in the bathroom and bring it back to him so he could take it behind the bar, while on shift. The incentive you wonder? He then tells us that "the next round would be on him... and to to think about it" .... hence on your business (Ruggles)- because I'm sure he never had any intention of actually paying for it himself. Again, having worked in the industry, we both know this is illegal, unacceptable, and inappropriate. We both ignored it. When I went to close out and pay our tab there was another woman at the counter. She left and I started to attempt to pay our tab..then the woman returned. She had the wrong card/wallet with her, I'm not sure. I of course moved aside so she could finish her transaction, but before she could do so the bartender felt necessary to say "I'm sorry she's been drinking all day and is rude." I just smiled at him and did not say anything. Needless to say, I left him the 20% minimum tip for my tab. My sister was nice enough to still leave the 50% tip that we had both planned on leaving initially, but that really had to to do with that fact that Nadir was so awesome. Had I of been able to leave Nadir a tip and the bartender nothing, I would have- and I would have left the 50% that I had planned on at that. I was extremely appalled at the lack of professionalism exhibited by the bartender and I would guess he had a few shots at the Yard House while on shift since he kept disappearing over there (or at least I would hope his lack of professionalism can at least blamed on that). And I only know this because I was nice enough to try to make sure to close out with him before a shift change when I saw another bartender get behind the bar. However, He informed me he would be there all night, he was just going next door for the game while walking back to the patio from the Yard House. I hope someone from Ruggles City Center sees this and talks some server etiquette into him. It's one thing to joke around with customers, but if he tries to chalk it up to that....LOL...he was completely out of line. I didn't even care to ask his name. Had it not been for Nadir, we would not be returning. Other than the bartender's lack of professionalism and etiquette- wonderful food and atmosphere!!! Would have given 5 stars had the outdoor patio bartender not been so rude and unprofessional.

Everything about this place is wonderful. The decor is very warm and inviting. The aroma walking in is enough to make me dash for the menu. If you're on a health kick and need some flavor in your life, go here. They have a menu jam packed with quinoa this, and wheat that; all delicious. I enjoyed the turkey lettuce wraps for an appetizer and the 5 cheese pizza on whole wheat. The wraps were the perfect start to a rather fulfilling dinner. The pizza was good enough for me to have to sit and think whether to go there for cheese pizza, or stars. It's that good.

I'm super obsessed with the fish tacos here. They are so light and fresh and come topped with a heaping amount of cabbage slaw. This dish totally fulfills my love of toppings on tacos. If you go with a friend of want dessert to go, I highly recommend he white chocolate bread pudding. It is so rich and so sinful. You won't regret it. Ruggles also caters to many different dietary restrictions - gluten free and vegetarian.

Came here on a Saturday around 6:45 pm - plenty of places to sit but the restaurant was too dark! Also not the cleanest Ruggles I've been too, the drink area was a mess. For the record, I love Ruggles Green. The one in River Oaks and the one in the Heights. I hate the Sugar Land and Citycentre locations. Their cooks suck here. Yes, I call them cooks because with the food they produce, they don't deserve to be called chefs. Spinach salad with grilled chicken breast - the chicken breast was severely overcooked. The edges were like jerky. I was really disappointed in this salad. The description emphasized bacon and bacon vinaigrette. Well I can tell you I really had to squint to find any bacon in the salad and simply crumbling bacon into plain vinaigrette does not make it bacon vinaigrette. The vinaigrette tasted good, but it is not bacon vinaigrette. Chicken was sweet, I was looking for simply grilled, non-overcooked and non-dry chicken breast. I got the opposite. I was hungry after this. Buffalo burger with swiss cheese - it looked a little dry but my sister had no complaints, but she is not a foodie... Sweet potato fries, as always, were good. Also, they use the best wheat buns I've tasted for burgers. Kobe beef burger with mozzarella cheese - it was seasoned well with some spices and it wasn't overly dry, although it was a little more cooked than what we had asked for. I like how it was nicely charred and not dry. My mom didn't have any complaints about this burger and it's probably her new favorite at Ruggles. I'm going to have to try to order this next time! Sweet pickles - someone confused the salt and sugar jars or accidentally dropped a bag of salt into this because it was like eating pure salt. Pineapple salsa - nothing special but fresh and bright - add it to your burger for some dimension in flavor. I will not go back to this location. They are expanding way too fast with lack of quality control. The servers seem miserable and the drink area is not kept clean. Side note that they do have outdoor seating so you can bring your dog. Just be wary of bringing them on the weekend when there are tons of kids in the fake grassy area running around, which is right in front on the restaurant. This gets two stars because of the kobe beef burger and the sweet potato fries somewhat saving this experience from a complete waste.

I've been to Ruggles several of times but never left a review. So, here it goes! Whenever I decide to eat at ruggles with friends or family I usually order one or two of the following items listed: Jennys dipper salad, Organic spinach dip, Veggie pizza, Salmon pasta, and Bread pudding. I wouldn't say ruggles is cheap but it's worth it because their food is good and made with fresh ingredients/some organic. I'm a huge fan of organics. I can never go wrong with their Jenny dipper salad! It always comes out the same way everytime I order it. Nothing changes & I think it's perfect for those who love mushrooms, asparagus, spinach, and tomatoes. Not a huge fan of roasted tomatoes but overall the salad is delicious! It comes with couple of different dipping sauces which are very light and tasty! Nothing too heavy that would make you feel gross. I also like their veggie pizza because its a nice light snack that doesn't pack too many calories. The pizza comes out looking like a salad pizza because of the greens topped on the pizza. It's not saucey or cheesey so if you like saucey and cheesey, I wouldn't recommend this pizza. The salmon pasta is reallyyy good! I did feel like they used a lot of the parsley or pesto. But it was tasty! Also, if you aren't too hungry, this pasta is big enoygh for two people! My boyfriend and I shared this pasta once and we were both full at the end of our meal! Price is a bit high but worth it. Out of their dessert selection their bread pudding is my ultimate favorite! If you like desserts try their bread pudding!! One time, I felt so guilty that I came to ruggles twice in a week just for their bread pudding! It was that GOOD! Next time, I will try their tiramisu.

One of the better Ruggles Green locations. This place was my first introduction into the franchise and some of their dishes are what keeps me coming back. They focus on local, organic foods so you know where your food comes from. My go-to dishes are the tomato soup, the fish tacos, and the goat cheese salad. Tomato soup comes with baked puffed pastry on top. Crack that baby open and there is melted cheese. Yum. Fish tacos are spicy, fresh and flavorful. If I'm going for something light then I'll get the Texas goat cheese salad. It's served with mixed greens, strawberries, and warm goat cheese encrusted with toasted almonds. It's fresh, tart, sweet, savory, creamy, and crunchy all in one bite. For dessert I love two things from ruggles: Charlottes Web and the white chocolate bread pudding.

Ruggles is a pretty solid place to dine. This is my favorite location in Houston. If the weather is nice, dine outside! The seating is great outside because you get a view of the lawn as well as the shops! Great place for kids- bring their toys and balls as well; you can keep an eye on them while you eat as they play on the lawn. As for the food, it's delicious. I usually get the grilled chicken sandwich with fries- both sweet potato and regular cut fries are delicious! Help yourself to condiments and drinks inside. Love this place.

After reading reviews and what not, I was dead set on coming here with my out of town friend for a Sunday lunch. I'm a person of restaurants, I love food more than most things and I can be a huge critic of a lot of things, especially service in restaurants. If I could describe Ruggles Green to someone who's never been, it's pretty much an upscale Jason's Deli. And I wish I had someone describe this in reviews for me because then, I don't think I'd be so dead set on coming here, or at least be prepared. While sitting outside there were even a few people who opted out of coming due to it not being a waited type of restaurant. Moving forward, You walk in, grab a menu and wait in a "lunch line" and figure out what you want to order before getting to the register. I ordered the South West Roasted Chicken pasta with a side Caesar salad. Once they put in your order, they give you a number to set on your table and you get your own beverage. We sat outside on one of the plentiful tables they have with in view of the center field watching families enjoying the pretty day. My Caesar salad came out first. Typical Caesar salad but it was also topped with roasted red peppers, pickled red onions and home made croutons. Different, but good. The pasta came next. First glance, it was very colorful and full of red from the tomato based sauce. It's a quinoa linguini pasta with shredded tender chicken with a lot of vegetables including bell peppers and even sweet plantains topped off with cilantro and queso fresco. I wasn't blown out impressed with it or anything and my friend ordered a turkey meatball Panini. While it had the grill marks I honestly don't know why they even called it a Panini as it wasn't even pressed down like one. It was basically a sandwich. The sweet potato fries however, were amazing. The reason I would only return is now that I'm aware of the type of service they have and to try the other things they have on their menu that looked delicious from what I saw others munching on. Oh and the location of how close it was the the field center and stage they have. The restaurant is basically a service yourself, not once did I have anyone ask if I needed anything or if we enjoyed the food. Life would be fine without another day of Ruggles Green.

Beautiful presentation; really aesthetically pleasing food. Surprised at the prices though, very reasonable considering the area. I had the regular potato fries, thickly cut, seasoned, and just enough salt. Also had calamari, was amazing. Portions are pretty good here, anything could be shared with another person. Staff is so great too! I had a 10 person group and some foods were missing, no questioning or anything they rushed to get it which was so funny to me.

Just as wonderful as all of the other Ruggles Greens around town. The food here is top notch. The combination of ingredients are well thought out and it's always fresh. My favorite salad on the menu is the curry chicken salad, with a large chicken breast spiced with a curry rub, dried raisins and apricots, carrots, and more. Many of my friends love the fried goat cheese salad. My man loves the hempanadas, with ground beef, hemp flour, and raisins. They don't taste nearly as healthy as they sound! They are delicious. We dine at the Heights location often. I have been a big fan for years.

A-OK food. If you need something relatively healthy, quick, and OK tasting - this is the place to go. It definitely isn't my top choice, and I've been here more than a few times. But it is one of the cheaper options in City Centre despite being a little pricey for the quality. You order up front and fill your own drinks. Get your own table and utensils. The food typically takes 5-10 minutes to get out - service is pretty quick. The last time I came I ordered the spicy Southwest chicken pasta, which just tasted ODD. I'm a texture person, but there were way too much stuff in the pasta and the tomato sauce used was really watery and pooled at the bottom of the bowl. I felt like I was eating tomato noodle soup and since I was given a spoon alongside the pasta. Not something I would recommend. However I would recommend their fish tacos, extra flavorful and a lot of texture. The place itself is chic, very clean. Outside patio that faces the lawn in City Centre is really nice. One thing I found funny was the men and women share the same bathroom sinks.

I don't know what all the hype is about over Ruggles Green. I'm sorry....I just don't see it. It's definitely not my first choice when someone asks "Where should we go eat?" If you're looking for a healthier alternative instead of going to Yard House next door then yeah go to Ruggles..... I've tried one of their pastas, pizzas, shrimp tacos....all alright I guess. Not bad, but I'd prefer to spend that much money on something GOOD. I guess if I'm going to spend that much money on shrimp tacos or pasta it better be damn good. Also, trying to get a table on a weekend during the day is almost impossible. The line to order your food is out the door sometimes. Not worth the wait.

I enjoyed Ruggles Green-citycentre on a beautiful day where I could sit on their outdoor patio and watch people on the citycentre green. I loved the place just for the patio. It is pet friendly, and they were even nice enough to bring me a bowl of water for my dog. The downside was my turkey burger was exceptionally dry. They overcooked it which is easy to do with turkey, but also did not have a enough mustard, so I had to drink plenty of water to get it down. The quinoa salad was delicious. What was heavenly was the chocolate bread putting. It is worth a trip on its own. The wine was good as well. I will give a different burger a try and this could go up to a five.

What happened to customer service and a simple thank you. Not sure if the staff goes through any customer service training but Bethany definitely needs a refresher course on simple customer service:acknowledging a customer, smile, look at them and thanking them for their business.

This is the best Ruggles location in Houston! I have been to all of them and this one is the largest, cleanest, and has the best service (although they all are pretty awesome). I'm such a big fan of restaurants who label everything for different diets like "vegan" or "gluten-free" and Ruggles goes above and beyond with their selection. I have had the grilled fish tacos, goat cheese salad, burgers, soups, and their GF pizza is to die for. All of the food here is so fresh and the way that food should taste. It's definitely worth the money I spend with the amount of food you get. It does get super crowded on the weekends but it's never been more than a 10 minute wait for a table. I only wish I could come here every day to eat, that's how good it is!!

You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. The food is deliciously fresh and your tastebuds won't be disappointed. My favorite dish is the chicken tacos, you gotta try the taco! Their humus is very good as well. The location is perfect! It's right in the heart of City Center. There is an outdoor seating area, which is very nice during mild days/nights.

Loved! ! First, it was clean! ! That's so important to me, because that means the kitchen is clean! We ordered the Greek pizza and the pepperoni. They were both delicious and I'm very picky about pizza. The bread pudding was the best! You must go!

Delicious food! Lots of items on the menu. Good drink selection. Quick service. The spicy shrimp pasta was absolutely divine! I hardly finish a plate at a restaurant and I stuffed myself full with that pasta. Their burgers look big and juicy; I plan on ordering a burger next time. Possibly the Kobe beef burger... The place is packed during prime times which makes it very noisy. This is a child-friendly restaurant but with narrow walkways between tables, keep an extra close eye on your child!

Hands down my favorite place to go with the family and friends for a great healthy meal and a fun day out. We always sit outside right up against the recessed play area so the kids can run around and play while we dine and relax. City Centre always seems to have live music on the grass which always adds to the festivities!

My first time eating at this location was a couple of days ago to meet up a friend for lunch. So of course during lunch time it was extremely busy and there was a long line to order. The wait for the food didn't take too long, it was a reasonable amount of time. I ordered my favorite, the Ruggles Green Atlantic Salmon Salad, and I was surprised to see the quantity of that plate when it was brought out; my friend ordered a pasta dish, and that also came out plentiful for her as well (since she was so stuffed from it). All I want to say about this place is that they are by no means stingy whatsoever and is deserving of their good reputable title for being a healthy/vegan restaurant. I was highly satisfied with my experience here, I personally like this location better than the Sugar Land/Town Center location, which is the one I usually go to. I will definitely be coming back here!

Ruffles Green was so good! Fresh ingredients and vegetarian friendly! I had the eggplant zucchini sandwich (I don't remember exactly what it was called), but it was delish! It had hummus on it and came with sweet potato fries. They also have a lot of good iced tea flavors. It was crowded around 6:30 on a Saturday. Surprisingly, there was no where to sit outside, so we sat inside in a booth.

Everything that we ordered here was great, however the Bread pudding was A-mazing!!! I got the cup of tomato basil soup and it was delicious! I also got the spaghetti with turkey meatballs which was okay. We ordered the fish tacos as well and those were really good. Great vibe from the place as well and the location is prime. So many other shops and restaurants are around, great place for the weekend.
